Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to present this 1985
Mercedes 380 SL. The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a grand touring
sports car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. The
designation SL derives from the German Sport-Leicht, translating to
Sport Light in English. In 1971 the R107 was introduced with new
design language and safety features that spread to the subsequent
Mercedes-Benz models. For the first time, the V8 engines were
fitted to the SL-Class. The R107 received its first update in 1985
with deeper front air dam, revised brake system with larger disc
and four-caliber brakes and driver's side airbag. The 5-mph bumpers
and four round sealed-beam headlamps fitted to the US models
remained unchanged from the previous generation. Even as a classic
this SL retains all the features that make it a true luxury
machine, including conveniences such as power windows, power locks,
AM/FM/CD radio and cruise control. This classic is colored in
Cabernet with a beautiful Burgundy leather interior. The 3.8-liter
V8 long block has been replaced and the 4-speed automatic
transmission was rebuilt around ten thousand miles ago, making this
convertible ready for the miles to roll by. While having two roof
options of a hard-top and a soft-top makes this car ideal, we all
know these SLs are best when the top comes off. This is the perfect
weekend getaway car as the miles are effortless thanks to features
like power steering and four-wheel power disc brakes.
