1967 Plymouth GTX Replica
Car History
1967 was the first year for the Plymouth GTX which was based on the
Belvedere and was differentiated by a blacked out grille and
special rear fascia, fiberglass simulated hood scoops with optional
racing stripes, a chrome "pop-open" fuel filler cap, and a
tachometer.
The GTX was positioned as a "gentleman's muscle car" and came
standard with Plymouth's 440 cubic inch V8 engine called the "Super
Commando 440" that was rated at 375 horsepower.
We have a 1967 Plymouth GTX Replica here at Adventure Classics that
has a 440 cubic inch modified engine, 4-speed tranny, and H.D. rear
end, plus mag wheels, hood scoops great black interior for a lot
less money than an original.
Engine & Drivetrain
When you lift the hood, you can't help but notice how period
correct, and mean, this engine and compartment looks! It has a
rebuilt and much modified 1969 440 cubic-inch V8 engine upgrade
that has a lot of go-fast goodies including a Holley 4-barrel
carburetor, modified ignition, chrome open air cleaner with the 440
decal on it, aluminum intake, long tube headers, dual exhaust,
chrome Moroso valve covers, cam and kit, power steering and brakes,
and performance spark plug wires.
The big block V8 feeds a 4-speed transmission and H.D. rear end and
it rides on great-looking polished 5-spoke wheels and BF Goodrich
Radial TA raised white letter tires.
Interior
The black vinyl interior is original looking with its twin front
bucket seats and matching door panels and rear seat. It has a
factory dash with both factory gauges as well as aftermarket gauges
and tach and a pushbutton radio, as well as a factory chrome
console housing the chrome Hurst 4-speed shifter, GTX floor mats,
black carpets, and factory black/chrome steering wheel.
The trunk mat is also restored and shows as well with the new
looking trunk mat, as does the rest of the car.
Exterior
Great looking dark blue fits this car very well over the stylish
lines of this Plymouth and the dual hood scoops and quad headlights
are muscle car all the way, while the trim and stainless accents
give this car a bit of a luxury presence.
Conclusion
This 1967 Plymouth GTX Replica we have here at Adventure Classics
is a great replica of an icon of the muscle car era and an
intimidating machine. It looks the part of a serious racer and
street contender, and it is with that great 440 engine.
