Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is proud to present this
1962 Renault Dauphine. In the 1950s, European auto manufacturers
were well into their rebound from WWII and were building many
different, innovative and stylish cars. The 1956 the Renault
Dauphine was a compact car built to compete with other European
compacts like the Beetle and Mini. Unlike much of it's competition
the Dauphine had quite elegant styling thanks to styling from
Italian design house Carrozzeria Ghia. The curvy sheet metal is
draped over the vehicle in such a way that it maintains its style
without sacrificing practicality. This 1962 example is quite a
sharp looker with it's pale blue paint and chrome trim pieces. The
interior is more spacious than one might think and has nice
upgrades like modern front bucket seats and a modern rear bench
seat upholstered in cloth. Under the front hood is a trunk with an
impressive amount of cargo space. In the back is where you'll find
the engine. A 845cc inline 4 cylinder which is longitudinally
mounted and paired with a 3 speed manual transmission. While 27
horsepower may not sound like much the low curb weight of less than
1,500 lbs should give this car no issues in the get up and go
department. If you're looking for a unique classic that will
certainly stand out at your local car show this is the one you want
to own! Options include AM/FM/CD stereo, cloth interior and radial
tires.
