Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is pleased to be able to present a
very large piece of American automotive luxury, this gorgeous 1968
Cadillac Eldorado Fleetwood. This unmolested, unrestored example is
finished in a 1968 only color of Madeira Plum Firemist (Code 98)
with a nicely contrasted white half vinyl landau top and has the
beige interior color with white leather seating areas. In 1968, the
FWD Eldorado received Cadillac's new 375 hp Cadillac 472 V/8 (7.7
L) powerplant and also the addition of front disc brakes became a
much needed standard feature. The 472 CID V/8 aggrandized the 1968
Fleetwood Eldorado's performance and the longitudinal acceleration
is rated as 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds, 0-100 mph in 22.4 seconds with
an ungoverned top speed in the 128 mph range. The engine is mated
to the GM Turbo Hydra-Matic (THM 425) 3-speed automatic front-wheel
drive transmission. The Fleetwood Eldorado's long, low architecture
was like nothing else on the road at the time and Cadillac had once
again created an automotive masterpiece. Sales for the 1968
Eldorado models set another record at the time with 24,528 units
produced, with the Eldorado's accounting for nearly 11% of all
Cadillacs sold. This low volume production statistic will only add
to the future collectability of these Cadillacs! Options include
A/C, AM radio, spare tire, cruise control, hub caps, power brakes,
power steering, power locks, power seats, power sunroof, power
windows, tilt/telescopic wheel, seat belts, leather interior and
white wall radial tires.
