Vehicle Description
This 1979 Ford F-150 Ranger has a cool blue-on-blue style, a stout
351ci V8, and cold-blowing A/C. And as you look at the whole
package, you can see the extra care and attention that goes into a
truck that was a father and son project.
The 1979 model year was the last, and arguably the best, year for
this generation of the F-100 pickup. The light blue is
factory-correct, and it was given a respray later in life to remain
looking attractive. It gives this a nice vintage tone because even
1950s pickups are done in this hue. But there's also an upgraded
sporty attitude you get from the smoother front end, tinted
windows, and aerodynamic tonneau. We're told this was done as a
father and son project, and you can tell the extra level of care
that has gone into the full package. So part of the big appeal here
is the look of a truck that was treated correctly. The body panels
are particularly nice, and so the full-length trim looks like an
almost unbroken line. Bright chrome bumpers, bright wheels, and a
clean grille exclusive to the '79 really deliver this exceptional
style.
Trucks can often feel a bit drab inside, but not this one. It gives
you a different kind of blues. Good carpeting, nice door panels,
and comfy velour inserts in the seats make this quite inviting.
It's not a completely perfect setup, but it sure feels like it's
ready to cruise. You have nice features like the sports steering
wheel, auxiliary readouts, sliding rear glass, a movable center
console, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with USB and Bluetooth.
Plus, cold-blowing air conditioning is always something nice on a
classic you really want to drive.
Under the hood is Ford's hardy 351 cubic-inch V8. It has the right
look of a proper investment. You'll appreciate the style of the
polished valve covers, air grabber, and compressor. Plus, there are
upgrades that add substance like the Holley four-barrel carburetor
and upgraded intake. There are also good supporting components like
an HEI distributor and a newer radiator with an electric fan. It's
a strong runner, and the full package feels nice on the road thanks
to the C6 three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in
2016. Ford's twin I-beam front suspension, power steering, power
brakes, and front disc brakes complete a good driver's setup.
The sale comes complete with a service manual and a nice
maintenance file. This is the well-presented truck that was given
extra care and consideration to be a true cruiser. Call
