Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is very proud to be able to offer
this remarkable 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 (#577). This is a truly
fine example of one of the British off-road vehicles that were
first introduced in 1983 as the Land Rover Series III, then became
known as the Defender 90. The Defender 90 quickly became the
vehicle of choice for British and Australian military and police
units across the world due to it's ruggedness and maneuverability.
It was also used by US forces during the Gulf War, where it was
discovered to be a better fit for navigating urban situations than
Humvees. Far away from conflict, the 44 became a highly coveted
vehicle among auto enthusiasts in America, who saw it as a more
exclusive alternative to the Jeep & this one is no exception. It
was originally imported from Japan into Long Beach, CA. on August
28, 2018 & the U.S. D.O.T. bond was released on September 24, 2019.
This information is all verified through CarFax, as well as the
mileage at time of import showing a super-low 27,900 miles (unable
to document prior to import, but believed to be actual) when it was
taken to a local European vehicle specialist in Signal Hill, CA. to
have the engine and powertrain computer module replaced in Jan.
2019. They also replaced the valve cover gasket (a fairly common
issue with the older Rovers), the fuel pump, fuel pressure
regulator & less than 650 miles later. This Defender is finished in
a beautiful Alpine white with black diamond-plate accents & rock
guards and is completed with a light gray interior that shows very
little wear. Powered by a petrol 4.0L engine and teamed up to its 4
speed automatic engine and a locking differential 4 wheel drive
system, you are sure to be able to navigate just about any road or
trail you wish to conquer! Other options include: AM/FM/CD, A/C,
Power steering, Off Road radial tires, sunroof & much, much
more. You are going to very hard pressed to find a nicer Defender 90
these days in this price range, and all the market indicators show
no sign of the rising prices on these truly collectible off-road
machines slowing down anytime soon, so if you have been considering
adding a classic Rover to your garage, now might be your time!
