Vehicle Description
This 1953 Chevrolet Sedan Pro Street has the big power setup you
want with the massive rear tires, an upgraded suspension,
four-wheel disc brakes, and a 454 V8 under the hood. But the custom
leather interior, show-ready engine bay, and all the custom details
remind you that a pro street car is also about being a cruiser that
can impress with its style.
Chevy had cool Yellow shades in the 1950s, so this has immediate
vintage appeal. It sets the right tone for an upgraded and powerful
classic that still likes to keep a touch of history. And since it
wants to be a true classic, it retains nice brightwork with the
wraparound chrome bumpers, jet-like hood ornament, toothy grille,
and full-length side trim. While that gives this the right classic
style that you'd want on a classic Chevy, it's also not hard to see
there's much more going on here. The lowered stance and polished
American Racing wheels have the attitude of a cool cruiser. And no
matter how well those rear wheels tuck into the bodywork, you
cannot hide their massive size.
The green interior is another one of those cool nods to vintage
style. After all, this full custom setup would probably be easier
to do in black, but instead, this is the exact kind of hue they
used to complement colors like Chevy's Fiesta Cream paint. It's a
comprehensive setup where the seats are in supple leather and the
smooth custom door panels were done to match. The plush carpeting,
smooth painted dash, tut headliner, and full finished trunk are all
part of this thoughtful setup, too. There are the right modern
comfort pieces, like a custom center console, an AM/FM/CD stereo,
and power windows. Those front bucket seats have the right modern
bolstering to give you all-day comfort. And it's a great driver's
setup with the leather-wrapped billet steering wheel, a tilt
steering column, a floor-shifter for the three-speed auto, and
essential AutoMeter readouts.
The engine bay embodies the best of the pro street scene. The inner
walls are shaved, tucked, and ultra-smooth. It makes for a terrific
way to showcase the powerful big block heart. The motor looks extra
tidy, and you have plenty of polish on the Chevrolet script valve
covers, air grabber, aluminum radiator, billet water pump, and
more. This 454 cubic-inch V8 has been upgraded with a Holley
four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer intake, and long tube
headers. There's a nice cam to give this big block added
performance and a nice exhaust tune that's powerful without being
overwhelming. The undercarriage photos show an upgraded tubular
A-arm front end, a strong 9-inch diff, and a four-link rear with
adjustable coilovers. And four-wheel disc brakes give you superior
stopping power.
This is a professional build that was done about 25 years ago, and
so that makes for the ideal balance of an old-school street machine
that has earned added respect for the way it still impresses today.
And you even get the photo book to show just how detailed this
frame-off work was. So when you want a full custom that's made to
