This gorgeous 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible as an outstanding
example of the third generation of America's Sports Car. But it

road-going Corvette-the thundering L71 427 CI Mark IV big-block V-8
backed by a close Ratio Muncie M21 4-Speed Manual Transmission.
This Corvette was subject to a frame-off restoration to
award-winning concours condition, its beautiful combination of
Rally Red paint, matching Red vinyl interior and white soft top is
one of the most attractive blends of its era, and one that still
pleases to this day. First offered as an option in mid-1967, the
Corvette's L71 427 powerplant set a new standard of performance
with a heady specification that included a forged steel crank and
heavy-duty connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, 11.0:1
compression and a racy solid-lifter camshaft actuating
large-diameter valves in high-flow, rectangular-port cylinder heads
with closed combustion chambers. Chevrolet officially rated the
L71's output at 435 HP at 5,800 RPM, but when all three inline
Holley 2-barrel carburetors were opened under full throttle, its
true nature was revealed as revs climbed to the 6,500 RPM redline
and power continued to soar on the way to more than 140 MPH.
Ordering the L71 engine automatically added K66 transistorized
ignition and a 4-speed manual transmission, both of which are
featured here in addition to, the 4-wheel disc brakes that became
standard equipment in 1965. Completed with Soft Ray-tinted glass,
an AM/FM radio and Coker classic redline tires on Rally wheels,
