Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is presenting a 1980 Ford Shay
for sale. The Shay is a reproduction of the 1928 / 1929 Ford Model
A. These cars were manufactured by the Shay Motor Company and were
distributed by the Ford dealer network. Orders were taken by Ford
dealers starting in 1978. The build was limited to 10,000 vehicles
to avoid federal regulations. The original plan was for this to be
the first of a classic series that would feature a different model
each year. Built on the frame of a Pinto, the cars also shared a
common powertrain the 2.3ltr 4 cylinder and automatic transmission.
The Shay is a unique vehicle. It is not a Pinto and it is not a
model A. They have developed a strong following over the years and
even have a club of enthusiasts. It is a fun to own and a fun to
drive car that can be bought for a modest price. You will have a
hard time finding a car that will draw as much attention for the
dollar as the Shay will. This one is finished in Gray with a black
vinyl interior. Side mounted spare tires and tall wide white wall
tires give it the period correct look. To view this 1980 Ford Shay
