Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1939 Mercedes-Benz 170V
Cabrio-Limousine. This example has been restored to a concours
standard and looks stunning presented in black over tan leather
interior. The W136 was offered in several different configurations,
including four-door sedans, two-door roadsters and, of course, the
interesting Cabrio-Limousine option presented here. It features
four full-frame doors and hard top rails but with a large canvas
sliding roof that retracts completely and stows beneath a leather
boot cover. The W136 was produced from 1937 until 1942 (when most
production stopped due to WWII) and was the first line to resume
post-war production in 1946 before being retired in 1955.
The car offered was restored in Europe and part of an extensive
Mercedes-Benz collection prior to being imported to the U.S. in
2014. Paint, body, chrome and glass are all finished to a very nice
standard, as is the leather-trimmed interior. The 1.7 liter
four-cylinder engine is mated to a fully-synchronized four-speed
manual transmission. This Benz starts easily and runs and drives
well. This is a lovely example for touring or shows and would be a
fine addition to any pre-war Mercedes-Benz collection. For more
