Vehicle Description
When it comes to polished customs, the collector car world has
plenty of nice classics - especially late thirties and early
forties offerings. But for every Henry Ford design that's gifted
billet wheels and dipped in contemporary paint, the spice and
variety that made this era the first golden age of performance
drifts one page further in to history. Thankfully, there are still
cars like this sweet '40 Chevy that remind us just how vibrant
every aspect of wrenching culture was at the twilight of hot
rodding. Powered by a massaged 350, backed by a reliable
Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed and dressed in brilliant Torch Red
paint, this stunning coupe epitomizes timeless American elegance.
And if you're looking for a show-worthy cruiser that puts a new
shine on old school ambition, they simply don't get nicer!
CLASSIC MERIT, MODERN POLISH
Carefully restored by a dedicated enthusiast who ran his own
garage, this retro Chevy is a super cool classic that looks, drives
and feels exactly how a timeless hot rod should. The car's
all-steel profile was stripped bare, supplemented with a bit of
fresh metal and sealed in glossy Chevrolet Torch Red two-stage. And
today, this sweet custom looks right at home pounding pavement at
the local Goodguys meet!
Speaking of street rod shows, it's very easy to look out over a sea
of brightly colored, over-the-top creations and think: 'Was Ford
the only manufacturer of pre-war American classics?' But then,
seemingly out of nowhere, a well-done Chevrolet rolls through and
quells any doubts about the segment's apparent lack of variety.
This well-done coupe kicks off with a full bumper that spikes
polished guards in front of a polished grille, ornate Chevrolet
branding, and streamlined and stainless-trimmed lighting. Behind
those lights, a louvered hood points a factory topper opposite
polished wipers, a polished spotlight and a smoked and
stainless-trimmed greenhouse. That glass tilts muted visors above
polished muscle car mirrors and traditional door handles, which
float between wrapped running boards and polished trim spears. And
behind those boards, polished trunk hinges pop a factory deck over
small taillights, a polished fuel cap and a second full bumper
that's spiked with more polished guards.
PROVEN CHEVY POWER
Under the hood you'll find 350 cubic inches of reliable Chevrolet
small block that puts the "Oh!" in show and go! Revs are created
when a polished Chevrolet air cleaner, secured by polished cymbal
nut, floats wind into a coated Edelbrock 4-barrel, secured to a
polished Edelbrock intake. At the perimeter of that plane, polished
Chevrolet valve covers hang a polished Moroso breather over a stout
COMP cam and smooth roller rockers. A hot HEI distributor shoots
spark through loomed Taylor plug wires. Billet Summit serpentine
components spin an aluminum water pump between a polished
alternator and a polished AC compressor. Exhaust floats through
wrapped block hugger headers. An aluminum Northern radiator plays
well with a small pusher fan and a big Cooling Components puller
fan. And first rate details include a polished oil pan, a polished
brake booster and a billet power steering reservoir.
ROLLING RETRO
Toss this Chevy on a lift and you'll find solid floorpans that
frame a sturdy factory chassis that's been thoughtfully upgraded
where needed. Behind the smooth small block, a proven
Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed twists power to a dressed 10-bolt
axle. That drivetrain pushes a traditional, leaf spring rear-clip
behind a Mustang II-style front-clip. Turns come courtesy of modern
power rack-and-pinion steering. Power-assisted stops come courtesy
of two discs and two drums. Behind the aforementioned headers,
throaty turbo mufflers roar through polished bowtie tips. And
torque transitions to pavement through timeless Cragar S/S, which
spin 205/60R15 Cooper CS3 Tourings in front of 235/60R15 Cooper
Cobra Radial G/Ts.
CUSTOM COMFORT
Pop the doors and you'll find a stylish custom cockpit that,
despite its modern comfort, fits right in to this Deluxe's
delightfully retro theme. Plush leather buckets are paired with
3-point shoulder belts and smooth power adjustment for the car's
driver. A tasteful, stainless-trimmed dash hangs clean AutoMeter
telemetry above Vintage Air conditioning and an MP3-capable Pioneer
CD player that's wired to crisp Pioneer speakers. At the base of
that dash, rich carpet floats a custom console between polish
window frames, a modern mirror and custom side panels that are
dotted with billet handles. The driver spins a polished and
wood-rimmed Grant wheel around a polished and tilting column.
Passengers stow essentials in a custom-upholstered trunk. And
everything stays safe thanks to power door locks and a modern alarm
system.
Both stylish and alluring, this retro custom is a bellwether of hot
rod skill. Virtually every piece of this old school Chevy fulfills
a vision that's equal parts purpose and pedigree. Why not step up
to something different? Grab this classy coupe and start turning
heads!
