The upgraded V8 from the Falcon six cylinder engine was the 260 c.i. V8 produced on the same assembly line with other 1964 Fords, the early models were titled as 1965 models although they were actually from the 1964 production era. After September 1964 the 260 V8 was dropped in favor of the larger 289 V8 like this particular car. This particular example boasts its original 'Candyapple Red' (T code) color paint with a 'Parchment amp; Rosette Crinkle Vinyl with Palomino' (D9 trim code) standard interior and was built with the C4 automatic transmission and a 2.80:1 axle. This particular example has obviously been very well preserved and maintained and the car drives beautifully with no known mechanical issues whatsoever. It must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated - a very striking example which turns heads wherever she goes! The engine is extremely strong and responsive and the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. In summary this is one very fine and striking super rare 1966 Ford Mustang 289 V8 Convertible for the Mustang enthusiast and a great daily driver for any American classic car lover. A beautiful example of this increasingly collectible and one of the most desirable classic Mustangs ever in turn-key ready daily driving, daily head-turning, and daily appreciating condition!
