Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars is very proud to present this absolutely
gorgeous 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL fastback. This is a true "4D68Z"
and a "63C, X, 86" Z-code 390 C.I.D. 4 bbl XL Cruise-O-Matic
3-speed automatic finished in beautiful Maroon metallic vintage
Burgundy paint and sitting atop a set of vintage looking Keystone
chrome & black rims, further enhancing it's early 60's muscle car
image. For 1964, the top Galaxie was the 500XL, which included all
trim found on lesser Galaxie models, plus bucket seats, a console,
and a floor shifter. The 1964 Ford was the final refinement of a
platform that had arrived for 1960 and it was a thoroughly
conventional chassis, consisting of an independent front
suspension, ladder frame, and a leaf-sprung rear axle controlling
Ford's famously durable 9-inch rear end. On this particular
example, there have been numerous upgrades and enhancements that
have been made to what is appearing to be a previous (although not
documented) restoration. The suspension shows very little to no
wear on the bushings and shocks, and the entire undercarriage of
this Galaxie is just as nice as the top side! It has also been
recently fitted with an oversized "BeCool" aluminum radiator,
electric fan set up, "Select Aire" dealer supplied aftermarket A/C
system blowing cold, new distributor & a Flame Thrower electric
ignition with an MSD coil, An Edelbrock aluminum intake with a
Holley 4bbl carb, Sanderson Street Rod headers, front disc brakes,
a new power steering pump, new 20 gallon fuel tank, Dynamat
insulation under new carpets, new alternator and new power window
regulators. I am sure I am missing a bunch of other newly added
goodies, but you get the picture here! This is one of those
vehicles that we get in that makes us just stand back & admire it.
From the black buckets to the nicely implemented Classic
Instruments gauges, you will not be disappointed in pulling this
Galaxie up to any show or meet anywhere in the U.S. or just taking
it out for a nice weekend cruise.
