For Sale: 1972 Oldsmobile 442 in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a real 442, documented with original window sticker. In 1972 there are many clones because it is not indicated in the vin. This one also has the glovebox pouch with the manuals and warranty card.

EXTERIOR: Clean, rust free original metal. I did not find any rust bubbles. Bottom of the fenders and doors are clean. Panels lone up square and flush. The paint job is at least 5 years old and you know black will show everything, I don't see any signs of rust. The black paint actually has small metal flake you can catch in the sun. It has a smooth and glossy finish. There are minor flaws if you look for them. The gold W-30 style stripes are painted on. The emblems are properly located because it is not a clone. In front the bumper was rechromed, the lenses look new. It has the sunken in 442 grills. In back it has a spoiler on the trunk, rechromed bumper with new lenses and cut outs for the exhaust trumpets. The rally wheels look great and they're wrapped with BF Goodrich tires. The weather strip on the roof is excellent, around the doors are a little tattered.

INTERIOR: Overall very nice unabused condition. It has a set of reproduction rubber Olds mats and a set of embroidered carpet mats. It has a bench sest so you can sit by your sweetheart. The upholstery is very good. The door panels are excellent. The headliner is excellent, it has a vanity mirror on the visor. The dash area is real nice. No cracks, lenses and heater controls are great. Cigarette lighter matches the other knobs. Glovebox light works. It has optional sport wheel. The original radio is in the dash, there is a modern stereo under the dash with 6x9 speakers in back. It has complete set of original seatbelts. The interior lights work.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The 350 is claimed to be rebuilt and upgraded with a hotter cam. The motor looks stock, it has the correct valve covers, air cleaner, manifolds, carburetor etc. The factory air conditioning system has been updated with 134 freon. It also features power steering and power brakes. It looks complete- the squirters are hooked up, has hood insulation, fan shroud etc. There is an upgraded aluminum radiator to keep it running cool.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rock solid original metal. I don't see any patches or splices in the floor or quarter panels. It has correct gray felt mat. The jack and spare assembly is complete. The trunk light works.

UNDERSIDE: Under the car appears to be really clean, original metal. I do not see any patches or rot in the floors or braces. The frame and chassis are smooth. It has the rallye suspension which includes front and rear sway bars and boxed control arms in back. The front end isn't brand new but it has been rebuilt. It has gas shocks all around. Clean exhaust system has Excelerator mufflers and the correct trumpet tips. Disc brakes in front, drum in back. Looking up at the motor it's very clean. The fuel pump and starter look fresh. Upgraded with a Turbo 400 automatic trans. In back the rearend has an aluminum W-27 cover.

This is a genuine GM muscle car that is a sharp looker. Very comfortable cruiser too. It rides so nice, has a/c, easy to drive.
