For Sale: 2008 Lincoln Mark LT in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

2008 Lincoln MK LT Supercrew

The Lincoln Mark LT was a luxury-trimmed version of the Ford F-150 pickup truck. A part of the Lincoln lineup in the U.S. from the 2006 to 2008 model years, the Mark LT was a successor to the ill-fated Lincoln Blackwood, the brand's first attempt at a high-falutin' pickup. The full-size truck was new for the 2004 model year, and was offered in crew-cab form, with a 5.5-foot bed in its launch year. For the 2007 model year, it added the option of a 6.5-foot cargo bed. The Mark LT's sole powertrain teamed a 5.4-liter V-8 engine with 300 horsepower to a four-speed automatic transmission, which made possible a maximum rated towing capacity of 8,900 pounds. Throughout its three-year lifespan, the Mark LT's gas mileage was rated by the EPA as low as 12/16 mpg. Despite its V-8 engine, the Mark LT's performance wasn't brisk, only acceptable. (Thx to Martin Padgett)

Similar in its underpinnings to the long lived and well marketed Ford F150 the Lincoln MK LT is different only in exterior and interior trimmings, and softened suspension. Hey, truck or not a Lincoln still needs to ride like a Lincoln. For consignment, the final year for the luxury truck as Ford corporate bean counters had a major downsizing just around the corner. This is your chance to get your hands on a low mileage, 24,261 to be exact, well kept, not oft seen variation of the venerable F-150.

Exterior
Bathed in White Chocolate Metallic, (even the paint names are classy with Lincoln), we see the F150 heritage shine through in the body lines, cab design and bed structure. The gaps are well minded, the paint is near showroom, badging and trim is perfect and chrome, well what would a Lincoln be without copious amounts of chrome. From the multibar chrome grille, to the wrap around below the beltline trim piece, to the trim between the door windows and door handles one could almost harken back to the late 1950's with the amount of chrome used. Both front and rear bumpers follow suit with the bed side rails, all just gleaming. Chrome and black step bars are on and are framed at either end by 20" highly polished multi spoke Lincoln wheels. A roll up bed cover is on and underneath is a bed with felt lined sides and a rubber floor protector.

Interior
Swinging open the door we are met with an interior that is markedly different from that of a standard F150. Multiple hues of parchment cover the door panels and in the leather covered arm rest are controls for the power windows and locks. Moving inside we are met with fine quality leather covered bucket seats also in parchment. They present as new with pillowtop like seating areas and wonderful dark brown piping around the edges. The Lincoln crest is embroidered into the headrest lest you forget what you're driving. A large center console has not only a parchment leather padded storage compartment topper but also cup holders for both front and rear passengers and a chrome bezel shifter with parchment leather trimming. The original leather wrapped steering wheel is highlighted by a section of ebony wood at the top and loaded with buttons for cruise control, the stereo, and heat/AC. This wheel fronts a luxurious instrument cluster with its black background, light gray lettering and round chrome bezels. In the center of the dash is the AM/FM/CD/Multimedia stereo that even has navigation, again Lincoln luxury. Below this is the panel for digital climate control. In the back we see a 70/30 split bench which emulates the front buckets in color, trimmings and cleanliness. A clean light parchment carpet floods the floors and is well protected by rubber Lincoln floor mats. A clean tight broadcloth headliner hangs above and holds within a power moonroof. Also noted is a power sliding rear window.

Drivetrain
Under the hood and filling the cavernous engine bay is a Ford 5.4 Liter 3V V8. This mill is fed by EFI and makes a factory rated 300hp. Minor dust is noted but nothing remarkable. On the back is a 4R75E 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a 3.73 geared rear axle, or front and rear axles when in 4-wheel drive mode.
Undercarriage
Full on body and chassis corrosion protection is in all the nooks and crannies of the inner body and frame cavities. Just a slight coat of surface rust on untreated parts otherwise all is sound and looking great. Power disc brakes are all around and the OEM exhaust appears as new. Independent coil springs provide the ride up front while leaf springs give the ride in the back. This suspension is the same format as an F150 but has been softened up to provide the Lincoln quality ride.

Drive-Ability
I handed the reins over to my partner in crime for this drive as I wanted to live the high life in the back. This truck drives swimmingly and one can almost forget that they're riding in a pickup thanks in part to all the bells, whistles, and luxurious appointments. The truck has good acceleration, excellent handling, great braking and a ride so smooth I didn't spill my Old Fashion.

The final year for the Lincoln luxury truck before market downsizing took over. Well maintained with low miles, an almost showroom new interior, a beautiful White Chocolate Metallic exterior and luxurious chrome in an era when monotone was the norm. Stop into our hallowed halls and picture yourself driving this truck, the lap of luxury awaits!
