Only one year after celebrating their 25th Anniversary, the
Chevrolet Corvette's fastback design continued to be a huge success
for 1979! Revisions to the exhaust system gained all cars 5 extra
horsepower and a low restriction dual snorkel intake added another
5hp to the L82 performance variant. High back buckets seats became
standard, and the standard rear axle ratio increased from 3.08 to
3.55 for far better acceleration! Sales boomed at dealerships
across the country!
We are very proud to offer this exceptionally well kept 1979
Chevrolet Corvette finished in gorgeous gloss Black (originally
Dark Green) over Doeskin Tan leather interior! This vehicle
delivered new from Dave White Chevrolet in Sylvania, Ohio and later
made its way back to the St. Louis area where its most recent owner
has cherished it for the last 8 years! Today, the odometer reads
45,708 miles which are believed to be actual from new!
Options include a number's matching L82 High Performance 350ci V8
producing a factory rated 225 horsepower, automatic transmission,
air conditioning, Gymkhana Suspension package, power disc brakes,
power steering, power windows & locks, tilt/telescopic
leather-covered steering wheel, sport mirrors with driver side
remote, upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/CD with Pioneer speakers & power
antenna, removable mirrored glass & painted T-tops, added front &
rear spoilers, Soft-Ray tinted glass, electric rear window
defogger, rear sunshade, 15" polished alloy wheels with BF Goodrich
Radial T/A raised white letter tires, cruise control, carpeted
floor mats, and ZX2 convenience group!
Routine annual maintenance was expertly performed over the years
which did include HVAC service with R134a retrofit, new starter, AC
Delco fuel pump, new radiator, water pump, new heater core, &
thermostat; shocks(4), and brake master cylinder all in the last 7
years. The front leather seats and foams were replaced in 2013
along with a complete professional repaint of the exterior by
Hughes Auto Body with fresh body weather stripping. More recently
in 2021, it received new valve cover gaskets, a/c service, temp
sending unit, brake fluid flush, engine oil & filter change at
45,200 miles.
Included with this vehicle will be the original production build
sheet, owner's manual, and all service records back to February
2013 documenting the accrued 13,754 miles enjoyed under current
ownership! This Corvette represents a small selection of just
14,516 High Performance L82 Corvettes built in 1979, just 27
percent of total production. Even fewer with the upgraded Gymkhana
Suspension adding heavy duty front sway bar, springs, shocks, and a
