For Sale: 1968 Buick Riviera in VALLEY CITY, Ohio

Vehicle Description

This 1968 Buick Riviera sport coupe was ordered by its' lifetime owner in Oct. of 1967 from Jack Kaldem Buick in Des Moines Iowa.  The original New Car Invoice is included with sale and dated 12/23/67.  The owner of this unrestored '68 was a WWII Veteran and Bronze Star recipient.  Hand written (and published) documentation will accompany the car and tells many stories including the ordering/delivery process as well as some very patriotic WWII history.  As Mr. Jolly's family states "never driven on a gravel road and always kept in a garage".  This car was owned and loved by its' original owner until near his time of death, March of 2019.  Though the current owner has not had the privilege of owning this car for very long, his health is forcing the sale at this time.

This Buick is in rekably well preserved condition and has never been "off the road" for any extended period of time.  ALL paint and trim is original (maybe with the exception of the driver's side door refinish, which is documented in the form of a quote from 2011).  Chrome has never been replated, and ALL glass and vinyl (including floor mats) is still in very nice, original shape with no significant fade or weathering.  The only upgrades or modifications, over the years, have been safety/suspension or wear item replacements.  Tires are date coded 2019, rubber/flex lines (brakes) are date coded and have been replaced, stainless steel exhaust is in very nice (as built) condition.  All 4 shock absorbers have been replaced and rear coils have supplemental bags.  The original AM radio works and speaker sounds good!  Even the Air Conditioning compressor spins and it is believed to make cold a/c...  ALL interior dome, footwell or opera lights work and no knobs, dials or trim is missing!

This original 430ci V8 starts predictably and is very quiet, hot or cold.  The automatic transmission (and 4bbl carb) respond appropriately to a quick stab of the throttle and car drives/tracks straight and smooth.  When it comes time to slow this car down, the original/serviced 4 wheel vented drum brakes work very nicely and brake bias is correct from front to rear and left to right.  The hidden headlights open and close with vacuum and all marker lights work/function.  The left rear reverse light lense is missing and there is a small scratch on the front left fender, near the front.

When those speak of a "survivor", few are as original 53 years later and in such functional, working condition.  We have this car priced aggressively for a quick sale.  Please contact Mark with any additional questions or requests, THANK YOU for reading our Advertisement.
