Vehicle Description
1968 CAMARO SS396 CONVERTIBLE
We recently purchased this Camaro with the intentions of just
detailing it as we do and put it out there for sale but once we got
it into our shop and fully inspected it, we found out that it is a
real deal big block SuperSport convertible worthy of restoring so
that is exactly what we decided to do!
Chevrolet produced 20,440 convertible Camaros in 1968 in any engine
configuration and option package so how many SS396 convertibles do
you think were built? My best guess is NOT MANY!!
The body, floors, trunk and frame are all very straight, solid and
clean but the paint was old and beginning to show its age so we
stripped the car to bare bones and sent it off to our paint shop
for a new 2 stage (base/clear) paint job. The car was originally
code "V" Sequoia Green but the body is so solid and straight we
decided to go "Tuxedo Black" with white stripes which will go well
with the white convertible top and black deluxe interior both of
which are in like new condition. Powered by a dated correct 396c.i.
hi-performance engine that ran really good however it smoked a
little when cold so we decided pulled it out prior to sending it
off for paint to have it professionally and fully rebuilt. (We have
a receipt showing what was done) This engine is backed up by a
Muncie 4 speed transmission with Hurst shifter and a dated and
coded correct 12 bolt rear. Other features and options include
power steering, power disc brakes, 15" rally wheels with new B.F.G
tires, Flow Master dual exhaust and lots of new steering and
suspension components too. This car is really going to be something
special and as always we will not cut any corners while finishing
the car. With a completion date of late winter, early spring she
will be ready for next years cruising season. Please call for more
information. Thank You!!
NOTES* THIS CAR IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE NOW PROIR TO COMPLETION.
