Vehicle Description
This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 was restored to have a midnight
appearance, plenty of big block power, and four-on-the-floor. But
what we love the best is the no-nonsense style that you got from
the best street machines from back in the day.
We like the black paint upgrade that delivers a true midnight
style. The application is said to be 20+ years old, and so it looks
quite good for its age. We like the matured appearance that gives
this the right street machine attitude. And while you may decide to
freshen up the paintwork during your ownership, the true appeal
here is how the straight body panels show off all the right
well-done fundamentals. So it signals this is a well-respected
hardtop. As a real-deal SS396, this one comes with the best Super
Sport pieces, like the twin power domes in the hood, premium rocker
trim, and a backout grill to match the paint. But there's more
going on with this one. The dog dish hubcaps, redline tires, and no
racing stripes have that kind of ultra-stock style you'd get on a
COPO, Yenko, Motion Performance, or other specialty build. And so
it just gives this one an extra dose of cool. That's why it was one
on display at a muscle car museum.
The black interior continues the car's clean and mean attitude.
It's a tidy vintage package, with a deep color on the upholstery,
carpeting, door panels, and dash. The details look good here from
the button-top seats to the working dome light. There are classic
items that are also there for display like the Delco AM/FM radio
and 1968's distinct horizontal tach. So it's nice to have them
looking good and they can work again with servicing. There are even
new window seals and door seals that come with the sale. And the
best pieces here are all about the driver. Front bucket seats, a
center console in-between, a grippy Chevy sports steering wheel,
and a Muncie shifter get your enthusiast's blood pumping.
Under the hood is a correct-style 396 cubic-inch big block V8. And
we love the way this one looks with its Chevy orange radiating a
powerful message from within the dark engine bay. Muscle car fans
will even point out the correct Winters intake. Plus, upgrades like
the Holley four-barrel carburetor, MSD 6AL ignition, and Flowmaster
muffler on the dual exhaust give this the right driver-ready setup.
The V8 fires up eagerly, and the COPO kind of feeling comes back in
this Chevelle with the way it wants you to feel the road. And you
have the muscle car pieces you really want, like boxed rear
trailing arms, a rear sway bar, and four-on-the-floor.
The sale comes with its NCRS production date letter, partial
buildsheet copy, and title documentation. This is the awesome
all-black Chevelle with the right attitude ready from day one. Call
