Vehicle Description
The International Harvester Scout is an off-road vehicle produced
by International Harvester from 1961 to 1980. A precursor of more
sophisticated SUVs to come, it was created as a competitor to the
Jeep, and it initially featured a fold-down windshield. The Scout
and second-generation Scout II were produced in Fort Wayne,
Indiana, as two-door trucks with a removable hard top with options
of a full-length roof, half-cab pickup, and/or soft top.
Very happy to present this straight and clean 1979 International
Harvester Scout II painted in Winter White with the Russet red
leather interior. Vehicle was sold new out of Arizona and according
to previous owner had spent most of its time there before heading
to Arkansas in 2012. Miles are believed to be original and only
having 2 previous owners. Vehicle was repainted in the proper color
in 2010 and shows well with some blemishes, but still stands tall.
Vehicle retains most of the factory setup with a few extras such
as; aftermarket radio, A/C kit installed and upgraded wheels and
tires. This Scout also appears to have not had the top off since
new with factory seals still in place.
According to the line ticket sheet the car came with; tilt wheel,
luggage rack, 2-spd transfer case, power steering, front disc
brakes, sliding rear qtr windows, deluxe interior trim, center
console, AM/FM radio, and 3.07 rear axle. This truck is in solid
shape and starts up with ease and drives very well. Recent service
includes engine service, new starter, brake pads, steering joints,
newer 15in Baja wheels with 35in Kenda tires, new shocks, and a JVC
stereo that turns on but needs some speaker wiring.
These are almost becoming impossible to locate with a stock setup
and without the huge price tag. Vehicle comes with the spare tire,
3 keys, and copy of Line Setting Ticket.
