Up next from the "Eastern Collection" is a Fully Restored 1966
Austin Healey MK III 3000 Convertible. Powered by the 2912 CC
Inline 6 Cylinder and backed by the 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
With excellent ownership history back to the original owner and a
stunning concourse restoration, this Austin Healey is not to be
overlooked.
Ownership history on this beautiful classic goes back to the
original owner, Nancy. Nancy was moving to Washington D.C. and she
was driving a 1960 Triumph at the time with out locking doors. Her
father told her that she must have a car with locking doors in the
big city. Nancy's father insisted on paying half for a new car for
her, so The car was meticulously maintained by the original owner
who held ownership up until 1996. Numerous maintenance receipt from
Manhattan Auto in Fairfax, Virginia were saved. The original owner
passed away and she left the Austin Healey to her nephew who
resided in Atlanta, Georgia. The nephew had the car full frame off
restoration expertly performed by George Pope who followed the
Austin Healey Originality Concourse Registry Guide. No items were
overlooked and the end result was a like new Austin Healey. George
Pope is very highly regarded in the Austin Healey community. It has
been mentioned that the restoration cost was in excess of $90,000.
The underside of the car is as clean as the top. Restoration
receipts will accompany the sale of the car.
Mechanically the car runs and drives as one would expect of this
caliber of restoration. The motor is very smooth and powerful. The
stainless steel exhaust sounds incredible at higher rpm. The
transmission shifts with easy and it a pleasure to drive.
Documentation of the Austin Healey will include a photo album which
contains the photos of Nancy with her car. There is also a photo
book documenting the concourse quality restoration. The car also
has the British Heritage Certificate documenting the original
engine numbers and original color codes. The car also won best of
show at an Austin Healey car show.
