from 1971-1973. With customers demanding larger cargo space a newly
designed rear end and extended roof line were behind the
development of the new 1800 ES. Production ended in 1973 due to new
safety requirements in the US. Under the hood of this 1973 Volvo ES
is a 1,986 cc (121 cu. in) overhead valves 4-cylinder engine
attached to a four-speed manual transmission with electrical
overdrive. Hydraulic disk brakes on all four wheels makes for
dependable braking. The 1800ES is painted in desirable Cypress
Green with an orange leather interior. Options include an AM/FM/CD
radio, leather interior, and seatbelts, Recent improvements include
a new battery, new injectors, new front leather seat covers, new
chrome bumpers front and rear and a new exhaust system. This 1973
1800 ES sports wagon has been considered by many as one of the
sexiest designs ever produced by Volvo. Proving a car didn't have
to be boxy by design to be functional.
