Chevy Blazer is the new hot classic SUV - Hagerty, January 2019
Motor Trend told the Blazer story this way: Ford had the Bronco.
Jeep had the CJ. Even International Harvester-the tractor
company-had the Scout. And General Motors had...nothing? Into that
sport-utility vacuum, the Chevrolet K5 Blazer was born. With it, GM
created a 4-4 that was both a direct response to the existing
spectrum of SUVs and yet also apart from it. The key difference was
size: Unlike its would-be rivals, the Blazer was based on the
automaker's successful full-size pickup truck. That cost-saving
measure allowed it both to come to market quickly and to deliver
greater capability than its competition. The market reaction? The
Chevrolet K5 Blazer was an instant success, and it wasn't long
before the vehicle dominated SUV sales. Offered here is a 1972
Chevrolet K5 Blazer In silver over black. The SUV has been
beautifully refreshed and lightly upgraded while retaining all the
appeal of this classic model. The Blazer's odometer shows 65,874
miles, or roughly just 1,350 miles per-year since new. The exterior
silver finish is fresh and completely without flaw: even
application, excellent gloss, and no damage whatsoever. The
removable fiberglass top is finished in black and is equally
pristine. The front, egg crate-style grille is complete and
undamaged, and the front and rear chrome bumpers are virtually
perfect. Cabin glass and lighting lenses (including on side-marker
lights) are complete, clear, and uncracked. Emblems-including the
K/5 Blazer front-fender emblems, blue bowtie Chevrolet logo
front-grille emblem, and Chevrolet embossed lettering on the
tailgate-are all present and in as-new condition. BFGoodrich® All
Terrain T/A® tires are mounted on factory steel wheels with chrome
trim rings, 4x4 center caps in the rear, and lockout hubs in front.
The truck's interior has benefitted from a full refresh in
original-quality materials. Gray fabric upholstery with
original-style embossing covers the foldable front buckets as well
as the removable rear bench seat. The vinyl-and-fabric seating
surface is fresh and free of wear or damage. Undamaged gray trim
also covers the cargo-area walls. Door panels are gray with roll-up
windows. Door seals are new, and door-sills are fully refreshed. A
replacement Grant® GT steering wheel (with column-mounted shift
lever for the truck's automatic transmission) frames the
perfect-condition, standard instrument cluster (enhanced with
brushed-metal trim). The dash is body-color-painted steel with
slide-lever controls for heat, and a Sony® audio head unit
installed in the factory radio opening. A storage box is located
between the front seats, just aft of the floor-mounted
4-wheel-drive transfer-case selector lever. Floors are covered in
fresh black carpeting which extends through the cargo area. The
paint on the inside of the rear tailgate is unmarred. Under the
hood, the SUV's 350 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 is in place in a clean,
properly detailed, engine bay. The engine block retains its
Chevrolet-orange paint. All components are correctly in place with
hoses and wiring properly routed. There are no significant
aftermarket modifications. Viewed from below, the truck's chassis
is complete and undamaged. A lift kit and upgraded steering
components are in place giving the Blazer a purposeful, but not
over-the-top, stance. The Blazer's original build tag remains
factory-riveted
