Vehicle Description
This 1964 Chevrolet Impala coupe is an interesting lesson in
enduring honesty. It stays true to its original form, right down to
the paint. And you also get just the right extra hit of V8 power.
So look at all the details - from the working AM radio to the
sweeping side trim - and soon you can't help but get attached to
this hardtop.
Take a moment to really appreciate what you're checking out. The
code-948 Palomar Red paint on this coupe is said to be original.
The lacquer finish shows the right signs of this being true, and if
so, that's more than half a century of surviving! There is even a
Chevy dealer tag on the bumper from where this is believed to have
been sold new in Ohio. The odometer is also believed to reflect the
full mileage, and that means only averaging about 1,000 miles
annually. You will find some signs of enjoyment and use, but on a
car like this, it just feels like it's telling its history. The
panels lie up quite well; the wraparound chrome bumpers are
complete; the badging is complete; and the full-length trim is
bright and straight. So you can tell this hardtop has been treated
with the proper care and respect for decades.
There's more of the true 1960s style inside. The factory-correct
black cloth & vinyl combination has all the right colorful pattern
inserts on the seats to give this a very cool representation of a
premium '64 Impala. And side panels have a button-top retro-cool
design that will attract attention every time you open the door. Of
course, it wouldn't feel correct without plenty of brightwork on
the dash. All the little details you want are working, like the
heat/defrost and Delco AM radio. So you'll happily roll down all
the windows on this pillarless hardtop just so people can get a
better look inside.
Under the hood is a 327 cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel carburetor
on top. This is not the original powerhouse, but with such a stock
style, you'll have to be the one to tell its secret. Plus, the full
engine bay really has a terrific stock style. You see it in the
details, like the GM hoses, correct air grabber, classic callouts
on the valve covers, and the washer refill bottle mounted to the
inner fender. It has been maintained correctly to fire up easily
and idle smoothly. This is genuinely meant to be an easy cruiser,
and that's why it features a Powerglide automatic transmission and
power steering.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual. If you're ready to
