Vehicle Description
This 1969 Camaro, body X44, received a professional frame-off
restoration using Goodmark sheet metal and was completed three
years ago. Using a jig for accuracy, every body panel was replaced,
as well as complete new floors and mini-tubs. The body is mounted
on an Art Morrison Max G chassis with a 3-inch drop and custom
floors. The exterior is finished in 1969 Dover White two-stage
urethane, while the bottom of the car is painted in semi-gloss
black. This custom Camaro is powered by a Chevrolet Performance
Parts ZZ502 Deluxe package 502ci V8 crate engine with 508hp and 580
ft/lbs of torque. The engine is equipped with FiTech fuel
injection, a Vintage Air front runner system and a Be Cool radiator
with electric fans. The engine breathes through a custom exhaust
system with 2.5-inch tubes running through the chassis for plenty
of ground clearance, and MagnaFlow mufflers and tailpipes exiting
at the rear corners of the car at angle. It has 6 to 7 inches of
ground clearance, so it never bottoms out. The transmission is a
TREMEC TKO 500 5-speed manual transmission with a Lakewood scatter
shield and a Centerforce Dual Friction hydraulic clutch. The rear
end is a Strange 9-inch with an Eaton posi-traction unit fitted
with 3.50 gears and held in place with a 4-link setup. Shocks are
Strange adjustable coilovers at all four corners with Wilwood disc
brakes. The front suspension is a Mustang Type II with power rack &
pinion steering by Art Morrison. The whole drivetrain and chassis
setup provides a good balance of power and handling. Custom touches
include smoothed and tucked bumpers, gutted hood, custom-made
aluminum front spoiler and a filled cowl panel. Other features
include air conditioning, a GPS speedometer, remote door locks and
a roll bar with racing seat belts.
