Vehicle Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 convertible is a real-deal Super
Sport that also has all the right upgrades. So you not only have
proper big block power, but also cool modern paint, five-speed, and
four-wheel disc brakes.
This car is quite striking from its first impression in the way it
mixes speed with sophistication. It starts with the paint. This is
a modern steel gray/blue with a nice metallic element. It has a
nice luster to really show off the well-done panels. So you get a
timeless sense of style while also getting the distinction of color
not offered in 1966. This is a real-deal SS car, and so it has all
the right pieces, including the simulated hood vents, rocker trim,
and full badging. Plus, the Super Sport's blacked-out grille and
rear not only look good against the paint but also coordinate
nicely with the crisp/clean black folding roof. Even the gray of
the torque thrust wheels coordinates to give you a thoughtful look
that doesn't take away from the iconic style.
Beneath the black roof is a sharp black interior. It has all the
details you love, right down to the trim on the seatbacks and the
clock on the center console. Even the correct AM/FM radio is still
there for display. This is a driver's classic, and so that means
the right SS features like front bucket seats and the '67 style
horizon-style tach. And you also have an upgraded sports steering
wheel on a tilt column, power steering, and have you counted the
gears on the Hurst shifter yet?
The 396 cubic-inch V8 looks great filling the engine bay. It has
been given an Edelbrock upgrade suite that includes aluminum heads,
a four-barrel carburetor, a Performer 2.0 intake, and finned valve
covers. There's even a full MSD ignition system to make sure this
string runner fires up with gusto. The upgrade to a Tremec
five-speed manual transmission gives you firm control over it all.
And speaking of control, the upgrade to four-wheel power disc
brakes gives you terrific stopping confidence.
There were less than 5,500 SS396 convertibles produced in 1966, and
this one has less than 1k miles on it since its restoration. So
when you're looking for rarity, power, beauty, and upgrades of
distinction, this is the Chevy you've been waiting for. Call
