Vehicle Description
This 1987 Ford Mustang fastback was featured on the cover of the
June 1989 issue of Super Ford magazine. The Mustang was fully
restored in 1992 by Charles "Chip" Minich, the former chief
engineer of Roush. The 306ci V8 engine features several upgrades to
the rotating assembly, including polished shot-peened SVO rods,
forged short-skirted glass beaded pistons and nitrided crankshaft.
The engine also features squared and honed decks, a Roush Racing
oiling system, Roush Racing steel tapered pins and Streat Heat
cylinder heads hand-ported by Roush Racing. The engine also
features a custom ground roller camshaft, Lincoln Mark VIII
throttle body and Big Stuff 3 ECU. The heavily modified V8 is fed
via a custom fuel deliver system and inhales via a one-of-a-kind
handmade carbon-fiber air inlet as well as an aluminum upper intake
manifold. Exhaust is expelled via a set of custom Watson 1.75-inch
ceramic-coated headers and 2.5-inch Borla exhaust system. The
engine is bolted to a TREMEC 3550 transmission with beefed-up
8.8-inch axle with 3.73 gears, 31-spline axles and C-clip
eliminator kit. The chassis has been upgraded with an SN95 Cobra
brake package and Maximum Motorsports springs, caster/camber
plates, front grip box, rear torque-arm package, and Bilstein
struts and shocks. Known as "R Rocket," the Mustang is finished in
PPG Straight Red. ** PREVIEW
