1973 MATRA SIMCA BAGHEERA
This 1979 Matra-Simca Bagheera (Chassis :X35508X457594) is an earlier iteration of the mid-engined, three-abreast seating concept, the Murena. Nearly 48k of these interesting little French wedges were built over a surprisingly long seven-year span, but they’re nonetheless somewhat difficult to find in as nice of shape as this example appears to be.
Though these cars wear fiberglass bodywork, the underlying chassis wasn’t galvanized, and thus the majority were lost to rust over the years. As is typically found on a survivor, the body on this one appears to be in great shape. Decent gaps and no misaligned panels, bumpers, or headlight doors also make their presence known. Tires look to have decent tread and are mounted on what appear to be factory wheels.
The interior for the three-abreast seating has been reupholstered with red and black vinyl several years ago. Overall condition still looks good, with no obvious damage. Power is provided through a 1.5-liter OHV 4-cylinder that provided 84hp when new from the factory.
