Vehicle Description
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible has been given all the right
investments for an absolutely awesome restomod. After all, the
sleek/stock exterior gives you the look of a great classic, and the
color combo inside and out is truly timeless. But with an upgraded
sport suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, an overdrive
transmission, and a fresh fuel-injected 435+ hp V8, this Pontiac
makes sure it can run circles around the other vintage cars out
there.
A first-gen Firebird has some terrific style. The bright chrome
front bumper dominates the front end, and the hood even has tapered
lines to meet its point in the center. The sides are sleek yet
formal with a full-length crease. And the rear has the kind of
short sloping deck you'd want on a European sports car. It's all
finished in a nice shade of silver that was an upgrade later in
life so that this sunshine-friendly drop-top can sparkle with a
good metallic. So it makes for a great-looking classic that will
get admired even before people know about all the upgrades
within.
The black convertible top is a great coordinating color against the
silver paint. So you'll be happy to know that with the flip of a
switch, it powers down to reveal a full black interior. This has
plenty of classic details that make this a great vintage car, like
the working courtesy lights and Pontiac's hallmark walnut-like
trim. But what we really love are the subtly added upgrades that
make this a better driver's car. After all, you already started
with bucket seats and a center console. Now this added a classic GM
sports steering wheel, a tilt column, and an upgraded gauge package
with large speedo and tach.
There are over $30k in receipts for recent work on this car, and
when you lift the hood, you really see the heart of this
investment. The motor not only looks fresh, but it doesn't take
much to also see plenty of mean components. This is a 400
cubic-inch V8 that was built at Lamar Walden High Performance
Engines to be a 461ci stroker juggernaut. We have the paperwork
documenting an Eagle forged rotating assembly, Eagle forged rods,
Johnson lifters, Yella Terra roller rockers, dished pistons, an
Edelbrock intake, and topped with a Holley Sniper electronic fuel
injection. You'll even spot good supporting components, like a
FlowKooler water pump, an American Autowire harness, and an
aluminum radiator w/dual electric fans. A set of Dougs headers adds
even more power while contributing to the rumble of the stainless
dual exhaust w/Magnaflow mufflers. The full package is rated at 439
hp and 444 lb/ft of torque...and we have the dyno sheet to prove
it! As you look underneath, you'll spot more great upgrades, like
the fresh RideTech front end with StrongArm control arms, RideTech
subframe bracing, a four-link rear, and RideTech coilovers. There's
also the Ridetech Tru Turn system w/power steering, four-wheel
power disc brakes, and a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission
from Mad Dog Transmissions.
Complete with build receipts and the owner's manual, they did all
the hard work on this drop-top Firebird restomod, and if you're
quick enough to grab this deal, you get to reap all the rewards.
