For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Absolutely stunning color combination and it was born this way! Trust me, it is a blast to drive too. The 347 Stroker with a 5-speed and a posi will deliver. It recently completed a 13 month restoration at Mustang Restorations here in Illinois. They've been building Mustangs over 40 years. It was taken down to a bare body shell and completely restored.

EXTERIOR: I assumed it was a color change because it's too good to be true. The original tag calls for Presidential Blue with parchment interior. Professionally restored body, taken done to a bare shell. No rust, all metal. It is laser straight, all the gaps are right on the money. The paint is polished out smooth and glossy. The white C-stripe adds some pop. Every piece of exterior chrome and trim has been replaced- bumpers, antenna, grill, mirrors, door handles, GT gas cap, stainless moldings etc. It had all new GT fog lamp assembly. In back it has the optional finned tail panel. New white convertible power top, the framework was repainted and has new weather strips. The door jambs are painted glossy, new weather strips and sill plates. All new glass. All new rally GT chrome wheels 15x7 in front 15x8 in back with BFGoodrich tires.

INTERIOR: All new parchment interior. New cushions and upholstery. New armrests ,door panels, blue carpet and blue seat belts. The whole dash area was taken apart and restored. All the gauges, bezels, dash pad, steering wheel, visors look new. It has a tachometer in the dash. Upgraded 300 watt retro stereo. All new $1,200 wiring harness. And then there's the Hurst 5-speed shifter sticking out of the floor!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: New Blueprint 347-415 hp, 432 lbs of torque stroker crate engine. It has aluminum heads, roller cam, forged pistons and rods. On top is an Edelbrock 600 carb with electric choke, new distributor with Pertronix ignition. It has new hipo exhaust manifolds. New 3 core radiator, hoses, fan and shroud. 60 amp alternator. New power brake and power steering systems. The engine bay is highly detailed, all the metal is painted semi gloss black. Cadmium plated nuts and bolts throughout. The factory markings were even duplicated. New hinges, chrome valve covers and air cleaner. The battery is bolted down properly, new battery cables.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk compartment was completely stripped down and was painted gloss blue. It has all new trunk liner including tire cover and the bag for the jack. New well liner, tail light housings, wiring harness and weather strips. Includes a real nice car cover.

UNDERSIDE: The front end has been entirely apart and rebuilt. It has new ball joints, bushings, springs, steering components and upgraded QA1 gas shocks. In back it has all new springs, bushings, upgraded adjustable QA-1 gas shocks and tubular Caltrac traction bars. The brake system has been all redone and it has been upgraded to disc in front. New e-brake cables, hoses and lines. New exhaust system with crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers with GT tips going through the lower valance. New fuel system including the tank, sending unit, fuel lines, fuel pump. The bottom of the motor is spotless, new motor mounts and rebuilt starter. Upgraded Tremec 5-speed and all related parts are new- clutch, flywheel, mounts etc. A rebuilt driveshaft goes back to a new 8 inch rear end with 3.80 posi gears. The floors, frame rails and torque boxes are solid metal.

The Stars all aligned for this car. Gorgeous looks, impressive performance and a high quality restoration. It is really dialed in. I personally drove it home and did everything like it's supposed to.
