1996 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible
Car History
Porsche 911 enthusiasts know this is one of the last of the
air-cooled 911s, the final iteration of the original, and even with
today's newer versions, the 1996 Porsche Carrera 911 convertible we
have here at Adventure Classics is an absolute stunner.
This 1996 911 Carrera is a winner in every way from the Guards Red
paint combined with the tan leather interior and black top, if you
were thinking that it was time to get a new Porsche, you should
probably try this one first.
Engine & Drivetrain
The Porsche Carrera is special because of the power and the ability
to put that power to the ground. The power to weight ratio on this
car makes it stand out from the crowd. Our 1996 features the 3.6L
flat six-cylinder engine equipped with a six-speed
transmission.
The engine puts out 281 factory horsepower and that famously
familiar flat-six howl. It looks completely stock, maintained, runs
superbly, and is known for its reliability.
1996 introduced Porsche's 'Varioram' system that featured
variable-length intake runners for great compromise between high
RPM power and low-torque production, making this particular model
an incredibly efficient machine with instant power to the rear
wheels up and down the throttle.
Always famous for massive binders, the disc brakes on this car are
super with the combo of beautiful 17-inch factory alloys and
blackwall performance radial tires.
Interior
The interior of our convertible has supportive race inspired
leather bucket seats surrounding you in opulence in luxurious light
tan with matching plush carpets well, protected by a set of tan
Porsche floor mats.
The dash is laid out in familiar Porsche style, with a big VDO tach
in the center and all the other clear, round VDO instruments on
either side. The 1996 was a big step forward in terms of ergonomics
so all the controls are right where you'd expect them to be.
Every power option you could want is at your fingertips including
the black convertible top that goes up and down at the push of a
button, Air Conditioning, Climate Control, Cruise Control, Power
Steering, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Leather
Steering Wheel, Clock, Tachometer, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag,
Security System, Fog Lights, AM/FM, Cassette, Heated Mirrors, and
vanity Mirrors
Exterior
The Guard's Red Metallic paint accents the iconic Porsche shape
perfectly, as fit and finish are excellent as all Porsche
standards, and with just 46,900 original miles, it has obviously
been a special car from the day it came home.
The paint shines up beautifully and looks super going down the road
due to the timeless design, but there's also no question that this
car has been expertly maintained.
Conclusion
This 1996 Porsche Carrera 911 convertible we have here at Adventure
Classics has all the classic Porsche features, no mistaking it for
anything else.
With the engine growling from the dual exhaust tips, to the spoiler
and Carrera badging, there's no doubt this 911 is a highly refined
Porsche supercar.
