Vehicle Description
This dialed-in 1965 Chevrolet Nova 'Chevy II' Restomod is a bit of
a deceptive car. It's certainly not subtle by any means, but it's
also the kind of car where the more you look, the more there is to
see. It's quite nicely built with a top-quality that is tangible in
every single component, and with a stout fuel-injected 5.7L LS1 V8,
a 4L60E automatic transmission, and only 791 miles on the build,
it's a potent street-fighter that's ready for some battles.
In the Pro-Street/Resto-Mod game, paint doesn't get much nicer than
the unique Pepper Gray finish on this handsome Nova. Finish quality
is very good, as you'd expect at this price, with straight bodywork
and a deep, glossy urethane finish that was cut and buffed to give
it a great shine that's held up pretty well since it was built a
scant 791 miles ago. It's not a perfect trailer queen, but it's
certainly very nice, and the curb appeal is absolutely through the
roof. Of course, for a performance car, a cowl-induction hood and
raked stance are must-haves, but thankfully both are modest enough
to not be too obnoxious. There are no gaudy stripes or dated flames
either, and the blacked-out treatment on the grille, bumpers, and
trim really gives this sled a sinister look. SS badges on just
about every panel let potential challengers know what time it is,
and the crisply folded sheetmetal and tinted glass make this car
look like it was practically CGI rendered. It's really that slick,
and although it's not a perfect show piece, the straight
sheetmetal, tight body lines, great gaps, and top driver-quality
finish really puts this Nova above most competition.
The custom interior is equally attractive and equally
well-finished, managing to toe the line between stock vintage cool
and racetrack ready. It's always nice to see a high-performance
bucket seat car, particularly one outfitted like this one, which
includes sculpted racing buckets up front wrapped in red leather
and a matching rear bench. Matching red door panels at the flanks
are the perfect companions, and the same goes for the plush carpets
below and taut headliner above - all working together to insulate
the tight, super-clean cabin. The soft interior matches the car's
performance intentions, and everything inside looks practically new
with a custom-wrapped center console, a gorgeous two-tone dash, and
flashy red-rimmed billet steering wheel. The reworked dash features
a custom bezel filled Dakota Digital gauges ahead of the driver's
seat, and the B&M shifter inside the beautiful center console
falls perfectly to hand. That custom center console also features
cup holder, 12-volt plugs, and controls for the Vintage A/C system
that blows ice cold throughout the cabin. You will note that the
aftermarket steering wheel is atop a tilt column, and should you
want to add a radio the factory slot is still available in the
dash. Open the trunk and you'll find it's beautifully finished with
custom panels that match the cabin, and there's plenty of room for
all the trophies this car is likely to win at local
competitions.
A modern small block engine looks like a natural fit here, and the
beautifully detailed 5.7L LS1 V8 provides huge power for the rather
lightweight sled. Outfitted with plenty of shiny dress-up, the
engine bay is the kind you'll want to show off, provided you stop
driving it long enough for other folks to get a look. And although
we don't have a Dyno on hand, the horsepower is likely impressive
with 806 heads, a performance cam, and Holley Sniper EFI plenum and
intake all adding to the party. Those upgrades and in particular
the Holley electronic fuel injection and modern fuel rails help it
make serious horsepower with little lag and with a big aluminum
radiator up front, it never gets cranky in the heat. A full custom
exhaust gives it a hi-po sound with a killer lope, and you'll note
that the custom chassis is in extremely good condition underneath,
featuring a Heidts IFS set-up, power rack-and-pinion steering,
power 4-wheel disc brakes, and coilovers and a 4-link at the rear.
A 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission feeds a heavy-duty narrowed
rear end, providing just the right balance between acceleration and
regular road comfort. 18-inch Ridler wheels give the car a perfect
modern spin and carry staggered 205/40/18 front and 265/35/15 rear
low-profile radials to complete the killer look.
A very impressive build that's a great blend of performance and
comfort. If you like to go fast and get lots of attention, you're
