For Sale: 1967 Cadillac 2-Dr Convertible in Victoria, British Columbia

Vehicle Description

V.I. F72057216

Purchased in 1979 in Houston TX from the first owner (older lady) with a bent front drivers side fender.  Straightened it myself and removed/repaired the rust on the lower portions of both front fenders.  Sand blasted a fair portion of the frame and undercarriage at the time myself.

I believe the mileage at the time was around 75,000.  I drove it in Houston until we were about to leave the country at the end of 1980.

We drove it to Victoria BC that autumn and one of the motor bearings failed near Seattle.  So we towed it to the ferry, rolled it onboard, and towed it to In-laws place in Victoria.  We rebuilt the motor there with a replacement turned crank and  new bearings.  That motor works (and transmission) and is presently a spare being sold with the car on a metal support frame.

We used the car for a few weeks each year while we were stationed overseas (kept in a purpose-built garage while we were not in town).

In 1987, we purchased another motor/transmission from a wreckers and had both rebuilt professionally in Victoria over a winter. In the summer of 1989, the motor was installed in the car and we had the top replaced and the body painted.  Since then, it was driven a few thousand miles in the last 31 years.  We had just built )1986) a house with a full garage where the car was kept under a cloth cover.

We started it most summers and drove it very little.

Details on condition.  The body is in good shape with cleaned and filled rust areas on the lower front quarter panels (has been dry and no raised areas since 1980-ish).  Insides are generally good but front leather seats have some splits and opened seams.  They will need work.

Tires are good although 30 years old.  Rear tires have body side panels to cover them that can be removed as designed.   AC system worked in 1980 and is complete but is empty and not refilled since (likely needs new hoses).  Power steering works but leaks at the box and the pump is noisy.  Power breaks all work.  Vacuum driven trunk and door locks worked until recently so likely the small hoses have deteriorated.

Original FM stereo radio still works. Auto speed control parts functional but the dash control has a stripped gear inside (control is disconnected from the carburetor).  Radiator is good (I think I replaced it 30-ish years ago).

Dipstick on motor is bent the wrong angle inside so we keep it out unless checking the oil level (it rubs on the crankshaft a bit).

Exhaust system and resonator was replaced around 1980 and is good.

Side mirror (driver) has been broken off but can be glued.  Drivers window needs to be manually pulled up last inch.  All other power windows work including vent windows.

Convertible top looks good and power lift works.  Rear window is original glass.  Tonneau cover is in good shape.

Keys work in doors and trunk.  Includes jack and tire iron.  Spare tire is in the trunk.

Car is being sold with spare motor and transmission (on a metal stand) plus a spare bumper and various body parts. In addition I have a dash from a more basic version of the same year plus various valves and motor parts that will go with the car.
