switchable exhaust system The second-generation Mid-Years
Corvette?s styling has held up well for almost 60 years and the
picture?s even brighter when you consider that it has a modern
heart and running gear. This particular example was made in General
Motors? St. Louis, Missouri factory (VIN code S), as were all
Corvettes until mid-1981. Since then, it has been completely
restored and upgraded. It?s dressed in Kosmos Red from the House of
Kolor. The paint and trim are in very good order, including its
straight and solid body. The engine bay is very tidy and the
wraparound chrome bumpers are clean, shiny and fit tightly to the
body. The car rolls on Nitto NT555 radials, size 225/40ZR18 in
front and size 235/40ZR19 in back. Each tire is mounted on an
Intro, five-spoke gray wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very
good order. Beneath the front-hinged hood is a 383 CID stroked V-8
that puts out 525 horsepower! This motor is backed by a TKO 600
five-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a Jekyll
and Hyde exhaust system that has an electric switch in the
glovebox. The driver can select the three-inch open side pipes, the
standard 2 ?-inch exhaust that exits in the rear or a mixture of
both. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning (code
C60), power steering (code N40) and power windows (code A31). The
air-conditioning is complete but the compressor does not engage.
Inside, the car sports a red leather interior. The low-back bucket
seats are finished in red leather that complement the car?s
dual-cockpit styling. The seats, red carpet and red headliner all
are in very good condition, and the three-spoke steering wheel has
been augmented with a thick, red rim. The inner door panels echo
the rest of the interior?s condition while the instrument panel
retains its original looks. The center console keeps its vintage
appearance along with an aftermarket AM/FM stereo in its usual
vertical position. The 800-watt stereo has XM satellite capacity,
iPod access and a pair of subwoofers behind the seats. In 2009,
this ?Vette logged a 2,800-mile road trip from Colorado to Las
Vegas, then to San Diego and up the California coast via Highway 1.
After stopping in San Francisco, the voyage continued to Reno for
Hot August Nights then back to Colorado. It has been with the
current Tennessee owner since 2015. If you ever wanted a classic
Corvette from the 1960s, or if you desire another one, then you
need to make tracks to MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this
red ?Vette before it goes home with someone else. VIN:
