Vehicle Description
1967 Chevrolet Camaro White 'Pace Car' Convertible. Camaro High
Performance certified from Jerry MacNeish.
New Arrival, please call Bob for price.
In its debut year, the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro was chosen to pace the
Indianapolis 500. Two years later, Camaro was back at the Brickyard
as the 1969 model served as the Pace Car.
The 1967 Pace Car Editions looked like the cars used at Indy, with
their special white paint, white convertible top, RS and SS
equipment, and blue Bumble Bee stripe on the nose. (The "Official
Pace Car" lettering on the sides wasn't painted on but were decals
that were to be applied by the dealer.) Other than those
requisites, dealers could choose any other options
they wanted.
This Camaro Pace Car was ordered with the rare combination of an
L35 396/325HP big-block V-8 and 4-speed manual transmission, plus
power steering and power brakes. The matching-numbers drivetrain is
still in the Camaro, which also retains its original sheet and
shows just 40,000 original miles.
A full rotisserie restoration has returned the Camaro to like-new
condition-better than new given the car's outstanding finish and
panel fit. The Bright Blue custom bucket-seat interior includes a
wood-grained steering wheel and the Special Instrumentation
package, which placed a tachometer in the instrument panel in
frontof the driver and a clock and fuel, oil pressure, temperature
and ammeter gauges in the center console ahead of the Muncie shift
lever.
Rally wheels and Goodyear redline tires make up the Camaro's
rolling stock. Should this car be pressed into pace car or parade
duty, it comes with a pair of bright yellow bumper-mounted pace car
flags.
The Camaro is being offered with its original Protect-O-Plate,
photos of its restoration, and Camaro High Performance
certification.
The odometer reads 40,614 which is believed original.
