This gorgeous 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark IA was the product of a recent show quality restoration and is equipped with LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) dealer options. The restoration was completed in 2020 and has less than 100 test miles. This is a matching numbers vehicle which is documented with a Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association Certificate of Authenticity No. 1005 that is included. The Sunbeam Tiger is a high-performance V8 version of the British Rootes Group’s Sunbeam Alpine roadster, designed in part by American car designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby and produced from 1964 until 1967 totaling 7,085 units. Shelby had carried out a similar V8 conversion on the AC Cobra and hoped to be offered the contract to produce the Tiger at his facility in the United States. Rootes decided instead to contract the assembly work to Jensen at West Bromwich in England and pay Shelby a royalty in every car produced. Production ended in 1967 soon after the Rootes Group was taken over by Chrysler which did not have a suitable engine to replace the Ford V8. Owing to the ease and affordability of modifying the Tiger, there are few remaining cars in standard form and this vehicle is one of them. A total of 2,706 MK IA’s were built between August 7th, 1965 and February 9th, 1966. This late production Mark IA was built in 1966 and sold as a 1967 model which was normal. This vehicle’s ID tag is fixed with its original rivets as the 2014 Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association Certificate Authenticity inspection documents. Most Sunbeam Tigers ID tags aren’t fixed with the original rivets like this example. This vehicle is finished in its original color code 108 which is Polar White. A limited amount of late production MK 1A’s were finished in this color as it was a MK 2 color choice. This car retains original California Black Plates which are included and documented with 12 California registrations dating back to 2003 which are also included. The car was purchased as a very nice driver quality matching numbers vehicle by a gentleman named Steven Bernheim from Studio City, CA in 2015. Steven immediately connected with well-known Avik Avedisian of A and B Racing to perform a complete show quality restoration. Since this is a documented California car and carried a lot of original patina prior to the restoration it’s possible some of the LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) dealer options were installed when the car was new or early on in its life. Prior to the restoration the vehicle was a rust free and never damaged. During the restoration process the entire body was stripped to a bare metal shell and a LAT 79 Fiberglass Engine Hood was added. The original hood was refinished and included with new stand. This vehicle retains all of its original sheet metal and has very nice gap lines throughout. The car was painted in its original color of Polar White which looks beautiful. The high quality paint work was recently detailed to a show quality shine. The white paint is complemented with a new black convertible top and cover. All of the original glass is in nice condition and retains the factory stamps. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the glass trim, wiper arms, antenna, front grille trim pieces, drivers side mirror, Lucas headlights, turn signal bezels and lenses, front bumper, door handles, Tiger body molding, gas cap, trunk hinges, tail light bezels and lenses, rear bumper and emblems. The car sports LAT 70 15x 6 ½ polished alloy wheels with spinners that have a Sunbeam Tiger center cap. The wheels are wrapped with new Michelin Defender 185-60-15 tires. The original 13” wheels are painted with custom fabricated stainless original hub caps and Milestar Touring SE 175-80-13 white wall tires which are included. The interior was refinished in its original color of black which looks amazing. The interior space is surprisingly spacious and very comfortable. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, black dash pad, wood dash, black Jaeger gauges, black Lucas amp gauge, black Smiths clock, dash hardware, wood steering wheel, door panels, door hardware, black bucket seats, seat belts, Bendix radio, custom O.E.M. center speaker console, carpeting, shifter with chrome bezel and leather boot. Everything in the interior is in working order such as the lights, gauges, horn, wipers, radio, heating system and clock. The trunk compartment was restored and painted body color. It’s home to the black front cover, black side panels, black trunk mat, full size spare that matches the original wheels, original jack assembly, two set of original tools with pouches and a correct style Specialty battery. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct style parts. The entire bay was painted body color and looks stunning. Everything was restored or replaced such as the hoses, clamps, grommets, washer bottle, clutch cylinder, master cylinder, heater core, radiator, etc. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 260 V8 that runs excellent. As the Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association COA indicates the engine number is #7011 B19KC. The engine was rebuilt prior to the restoration. It’s equipped with a high performance camshaft and Edelbrock aluminum heads. The engine was dressed with a LAT 1 Super Tiger Super Induction kit which was an Edelbrock F4B intake manifold and Holley 4-barrell carburetor. During the restoration the original chrome valve covers were replaced with LAT 8 Sunbeam Tiger Valve Covers. The Holly 4-barrell carburetor was replaced with a new Quick Fuel Slayer 450 CFM carburetor. The original valve covers and Holley carburetor are included. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a dual exhaust system with chrome tips. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers 4-speed manual transmission and rear end. The undercarriage is detailed throughout with many correct parts. During the restoration the underside of the body was treated with black textured paint for durability. The steering components, suspension system and braking system was completely restored or replaced. Additional items included are a pair of sun visors, 2 tin Sunbeam Tiger advertising signs, 10 Sunbeam Tiger books, Tigers East/Alpines East Concours d’ Elegance quick reference judging guide for Sunbeam Tiger stock class with new binder, original factory accessories catalog, 2 Sunbeam Tiger 260/289 workshop manuals, Sunbeam Tiger parts list sheets, copy of original LAT dealer option brochure, Sunbeam Tiger LAT banner and custom car cover. Restoration receipts in a new binder and photos on a thumb drive are also included. This vehicle has been recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.
