For Sale: 1946 Plymouth Deluxe in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Wow! Rare, unrestored survivor car in unbelievable condition! One family, three-owner car! Never offered for sale since 1946! Hard to find a nicer four-door!

BODY OVERVIEW: Purchased new by his grandfather, this Plymouth has been owned by the same gentleman since 1988. The body condition is truly astounding, as this car is as clean and solid as an original 75-year-old car can be. There are some minor dents and dings to be found, but the fact that this car hasn't seen a full restoration in the three-quarters of a century it has existed means it deserves some slack.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This car appears to have received a repaint at some point in the past in the original color of Marine Blue. It still shines, as much as it was ever supposed to, and has minimal deterioration for how old the paint appears to be. There are some small damages such as chips, marks, etc. that are to be expected, but nothing that detracts from the natural beauty of a survivor like this. You'll have to see it in person to believe it!

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: When we see survivor cars like this, often the interior condition is the most telling reminder of the vehicle's age. Not so for this Plymouth! While the interior does show some signs of wear and aging, the soft materials are in astonishingly good condition. Even the headliner looks great! Sitting inside this Plymouth Deluxe is truly like being in a time machine.

MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Mechanically, this car functions as expected. The 217.8ci (3.6L) L-head six engine runs smoothly, the transmission shifts well, and it has been preserved beautifully. It drives like a car from 1946, but it is surprisingly easy to handle and is just about guaranteed to put a smile on the face of whomever is behind the wheel. The engine bay is remarkably clean for an unrestored car of this vintage, and any collector should be impressed.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The originality! Restored cars are wonderful, but they're only original once.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If you like fresh, restored vehicles this is probably not for you.

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Believe it or not, the only item noted as non-functional is the wipers.

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Any post-war car collector, Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler enthusiast, or anyone looking for an affordable, neat old car with known ownership history and a high level of originality.
