Vehicle Description
1994 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
In 1951 a group of Harley Earl's "Special Projects" crew began work
on a GM sports car. Bob McLean designed a general layout for the
car which was originally code named, "Opel." William Durant, the
founder of GM, said a wallpaper pattern he saw in a Paris hotel in
1908 inspired the bow tie logo. Supposedly, he ripped off a small
piece of it and brought it back to Detroit. Myron Scott, at the
time Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up
with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of
the "Corvette" class.
A C-4 "new generation" Corvette, might be masquerading as a
collector car with its low mileage, and all original equipment.
originally owned by a collector in Chicago, our consigner swiped it
in a sale of said collection and has enjoyed it for the last 5
years. Powered by a LT-1 5.7-liter mill, and bathed in Torch Red,
it is as if the some Little Red Corvette was written for this
collector car.
Exterior
Torch Red covers every fiberglass surface. A 1-piece removable
fiberglass roof panel sits on top, and retractable halogen
headlamps are up front, along with halogen fog lamps and tungsten
running lights and signals which are below the neoprene body
matching bumper. All chrome is gone, and now black stainless steel
is highlighting the windows and doors. Greenhouse glass makes up
the rear of the car, and it rolls up to a flat rear panel with the
Corvette rounded corner square taillights which are deeply inset
into the rear body matching Torch Red neoprene rear bumper and roll
pan. 4 stainless steel pipes peek out from underneath on either
side, and the turbine style wheel covers have never been curbed and
are nice and shiny.
Interior
Black leather wraps the smooth contemporary styled high back
buckets, and steering wheel, as well as center console armrest.
There are many convenience options on this car such as analog and
orange digital display instrumentation, AM/FM/Cassette/CD player,
power windows, door locks, seats, steering and brakes. A clean dash
as well as fair carpeting complete the black package.
Drivetrain
A 5.7-liter 300hp LT-1 V8 sits under the clamshell hood and can be
accessed very conveniently. It presents with electronic fuel
injection, and a 4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission, recently
serviced, with overdrive back the mill up. The rear axle weighs in
with a 2.73 ratio.
Undercarriage
Typical for a car of this age and mileage, ABS disc brakes are
seen, as well as a performance axle ratio differential. 5 link rear
suspension with transverse fiberglass spring, and independent front
suspension, with power rack and pinion steering are seen. Power
disc braking is on all 4 corners, and a MagnaFlow exhaust and
muffler system is now mounted on the undercarriage.
This warship, with the deep throaty dual exhaust emanating from the
5.7-liter mill, and the ability to strike in a moment's notice,
fired right up. On the test track it has nice smooth acceleration,
great rail like handling, and bias free panic stopping. All
functions were working just fab, and the A/C definitely blew
cold!
Wrapped in creature comforts, and plenty of leather, this Corvette
is ready to be your daily driver, or just a shower not unlike its
long-time collector owner. Either way the Torch Red force will be
with you.
