1971 VW Type III Squareback. I am selling for my Uncle, the second owner and life-long VW enthusiast, who has chosen to stop driving. 1,600cc full-injected motor paired with 3-speed automatic transmission. Purchased 18 years ago with the odometer showing 19,441 miles, but the odometer was non-functional, and was repaired immediately thereafter. Currently at 42,946 miles; averaged 1,306 miles per year during current ownership. Purchased from St. Charles, Missouri and driven to northern Illinois to its second home. Maintenance records are available from 2003 to 2016. Always garaged. Rust is present, especially in front quarter panels. Vehicle was recently scraped upon being backed into the garage, causing damage to paint. The passenger's side mirror is cracked. Doors shut easily and with a solid "thunk"-- the frame is straight. Vehicle was repainted during first ownership. Very nice interior, with the exception of splitting at the seams (not a random tear) on each of the upper portion of front seats (captured in photos). Original AM radio works as it should. The tires need to be replaced due to age. Headliner has a few small cuts, but is otherwise solid and not sagging. A/C parts were removed as were the original tail light lenses; these will be included in the sale. This is a neat, practical car that gets a lot of attention on every trip.
As of August 30, 2021, the car received a fresh oil change and a brake fluid flush.
