Vehicle Description
This 1941 Ford Super Deluxe coupe may just be the ultimate pre-WWII
icon. After all, it takes a historically significant car and shows
it off with a sleek style, awesome lines, and true nostalgia
details. But this one has also been upgraded to be a great modern
cruiser. That means it still has the classic flathead V8, but there
are improvements all around it, including a five-speed manual
transmission, an alternator, an independent front suspension, and
four-wheel disc brakes.
This car has a true classic look. It has all the best details, like
the full-length shining trim, a two-piece windshield, two-piece
wheel trim, and iconic whitewalls. And the 1941 coupe was a unique
new design of the era. We'd be getting into WWII soon, but first
Ford wanted to give us a distinct three-part grille, hidden gas
cap, and almost completely eliminated running boards. It has the
look of a true classic where the maroon paint has a good gloss that
shows off the good body lines. But there's just the right touch of
aged-in style so that people won't think it's a restomod. That's
important because as you keep digging, you'll see that this classic
is going incognito.
The interior retains the same classic and attractive feelings as
the exterior. The cloth seats have the right classic texture, but
you can feel the freshness simply because something 80 years old
could never be this comfortable. The same feeling of investment is
in the headliner and door panels to make this a nice place to spend
some time. Since this one is meant to be driven, there are also
some well-done upgrades. The artful Ford deluxe steering wheel is
now on a tilt column. And those auxiliary gauges and floor shifter
are all about better knowledge and control.
The engine bay has the classic look of dual hoses diving into the
flathead V8. But this 255 cubic-inch powerhouse is also far from
stock. The chrome alternator and Optima red top battery signal a
well-done 12-volt system. That means everything from upgraded plug
wires to a modern Holley four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke.
It makes for a strong motor that fires up easily - all without
losing its vintage charm. And the upgrade to a five-speed manual
transmission gives you more gears and better ratios to enjoy the
powerband. As you look underneath, you'll see a clean chassis that
gives you confidence out on the street. And the front end has been
upgraded to a Mustang II-style unit for better all-around driving.
This is the kind of classic that wants you to feel the road, but
the four-wheel power disc brakes and modern tires behind the
classic whitewalls offer a solid all-around feel.
