For Sale: 1951 Ford Woody Wagon in Minot, North Dakota

Vehicle Description

THIS CAR IS PENDING SALE CURRENTLY!!!!!

This Woodie Was Purchased In 2015 Where It Was Found In A Quonset North Of Bismarck, North Dakota. When The Chassis Arrived, It Was Pretty Rust Free, But There Was No Wood Left On The Car At All. The Doors, Seats, Tailgate, Hood, Fenders, And Lift Gate Were All Intact.  The Floorboards Were Not Even Rusted Through.  When The Car Was First Purchased, It Was Unknown Where It Would Go With The Restoration, But Before Too Long, It Was Decided To Go All The Way.  First Thing Was To Order An Art Morrison Chassis For It.  All The Right Stuff Such As A Ford 9” Rear End, 4 Link Suspension, Strange Axles, JRI Coil Overs, And More.

When It Arrived, It Was Fitted So That The Engine And Transmission Would Fit The Firewall And Floor/Tunnel Area. Then The Body Work Started With Some Welding, Door Alignment, And The Alignment Of The Hood, Fenders And The Rear Tail And Lift Gates Which All Came Out Well.  Then All Of The Chrome Bumpers, Trim Was Sent Off To Decorative Industrial Plating In Helena, MT. Who Did A Great Job.  All Of The Stainless Was Restored By Don Tucker In Ava, MO.  While This Was Being Done, The ‘FORD’  351 Windsor Engine And A Bowler 4L85E Transmission Was Ordered.

The Engine And Transmission Were Mounted To The Car Along With Other Minor Brackets And Attachments.  I Ordered “Z” Rated Wide White Wall Tires---16”.  Then, I Wanted The Original (New) Hub Caps To Fit The Rims, So I Had The Wheels Custom Made Out In CA, So They Are 16”, Powder Coated Red, With The New Hub Caps.  Personally, I Think The Wheels, Tires, And Hub Caps Make The Look Of This Car.  (Along With The Stance…) It Is 1” Higher In The Rear Of The Car As We Engineered. It Has A March Serpentine Billet Aluminum Pulley System With One Of The Most Beautiful Air Cleaners That I’ve Ever Seen. This With The Ford 9” Makes It Push Down The Highway REALLY Well!  The Engine In The Car Is From Summit Racing.  It Has A Holley Sniper Fuel Injection System And A New Stainless Fuel Tank. The Transmission Has A "Compu-Shift" Controller, Wildwood Disc Brakes And A Electric Vacuum Pump To Provide Positive Brake Vacuum On The Car.

The Color Is A Dark Green Metallic Off The 2015 Camaro “SS”.  The Body Work Was Perfected By Midwest Rod And Custom In Lake Park, MN.  The Fit And Finish On This Woodie Is Impeccable! The Wood Is Maple And Mahogany.  It Was Made By Rick Mack In Fife, Washington.  It Came In A ‘Raw’ State And Was Sanded And Fitted To This Car.  The Body Was Secured To The Frame And That Is When The Wood Was Final Fitted. Then It Came Off The Car And Was Stained And Varnished With Spar Varnish. At This Point The Chassis Was Powder Coated Black. The Under Body Is Sprayed With Bed Or Box Liner For Great Protection.

The Interior Is Tan, Brown, And Green.  The Carpet Is “Daytona Weave”.  The Seats, Door Panels, And Headliner Are All Done In A Contrasting Tan And Brown Leather With A Touch Of Vinyl.  This Work Was Performed By Huston Pierce Of “Pierce-N-Customs” In Pelican Rapids, MN.  The Stainless Trim Has Been Strategically Inserted In The Door Panels To Compliment The Dash Stainless.  The Original Gauges Are In The Cluster, But The Speedometer Reads High.  Fuel Gauge And Volts Gauges Work.  The Steering Wheel Is ‘Hand Painted’ By An Artist And Looks Fantastic.  The Power Steering Works Well.  It Has A LOKAR Shifter On The Floor With Just The Right Height Handle. The Stereo Is Mounted In The Dash And Has A Sub-Woofer And Just The Right Amount Of Speakers In The Car.

In January 2019, It Was The Cover Car On The “National Woodie Times”.  November And December 2018 And Then January 2019, The Editor Jim Lee Had A 3 Month ‘Build’ Story Detailing My Story Of Building One Of The Finest ‘Woodies’ In The Country---No The World!
