mounts it on a more modern 4x4 frame, and this distinct V8-powered

Chevy's classic trucks have always been a great starting point for
the custom pickup scene, but this one is a standout even among
those. While we see plenty of street-eating unique creations, this
one goes in the other direction. It takes an off-road ready
attitude with its tall 4x4 prowess. This will still attract classic
lovers with the inaugural-year Task Force body, stepside profile,
and real wood truck bed. There are even big chrome bumpers, a nice
newer grille, and a glossy maroon finish. But none of it is ever
too fancy, and so you'll also happily utilize this as a true 4x4.
So there are going to be many who will marvel at how deep you got
this classic into the wilderness or how deep it goes into the mud
pit.
The maroon continues inside, including the fully upgraded seats.
They are now wide comfy buckets with fold-down armrests and plush
velour upholstery. But as a real 4x4, this is not out to be a
classic coddler. It has robust features like liner paint on the
floor and lower door panels. And the wood-rimmed steering wheel and
floor shifter let you take firm control.
The 350 cubic-inch V8 under the hood is certainly more powerful
than anything available in 1955. It inhales deeply with a
four-barrel carburetor, and the V8 exhales with a nice tune out of
the rumbling dual exhaust. The four-speed manual transmission is
ideal for good all-around control, including a granny gear first
for low-end torque. As you look at the undercarriage photos, you'll
understand why this classic truck can still be so capable today.
Because while it's a Chevy 3100 on the outside, this has the
chassis of a younger K5 4x4. That means stout 4x4 components that
will always be easy to source, including the upgraded wheels with
Mud Claw Extreme M/T tires. It also means nice conveniences like
power steering, power brakes, and front disc brakes.
