Vehicle Description
The Quattroporte's elegant ovalesque nose evokes Maserati's
immensely successful sports prototypes and Grand Prix roadsters of
the 1930s, 1940s and early 1950s. The shape boasts muscular forms,
soft curves and flowing lines combined with a cab-rearward stance.
Twin xenon headlamps sweep back from the nose into fenders
delineated by gracefully bulging wheel arches and a short front
overhang. Spirited and flexible, the Quattroporte V8 engine
responds to throttle applications with sonorous intake and burbly
exhaust sounds. Beneath the gorgeous red-crackle-painted cam covers
is an an all-aluminum 4-cam 4.2-liter V8 engine mated to an
automatic transmission with continuously variable intake-valve
timing and dry-sump lubrication. Even though the engine makes its
394hp at an intoxicating 7,000 rpm, just 500 shy of redline, its
intake-tract shape is designed to deliver more than 75 percent of
maximum torque from a lazy 2,500 rpm. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
