Vehicle Description
An affordable and sleek drop-top Mercedes is always going to be
quite a head-turner, but this 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 is something
much more. The AMG badge is earned with a 355 horsepower V8 that
turns this into a rocket ship. So it can coddle you in luxury for
in-town driving, but it also knows how to ignite your soul on the
back roads.
This generation of the SLK is an awesome sports car. The sharply
pointed nose and hood vents are directly borrowed from the SLR
McLaren supercar. And since this is the hot AMG version, it really
looks extra sinister in black. Widely flared fenders, a well-done
spoiler, quad exhaust tips, and 16-spoke 18-inch wheels are all
there to show the sporting nature even if no one sees the AMG
badge. But the true trick was the electronic folding hardtop was so
well engineered that the design makes for an outstandingly
attractive coupe.
The interior is a terrific mix of sporty style and Mercedes luxury.
It starts with the supremely comfortable leather bucket seats. The
red inserts break up the full black presentation with a streak of
added aggressiveness. The door panels were even done to match.
Power seats and a power adjusting steering column mean it's easy to
dial-in your ideal driving position. This is loaded with desirable
luxuries, like power windows, power locks, keyless entry/alarm,
power steering, cruise control, and a premium AM/FM/CD stereo.
Plus, this car also has great modern safety features such as dual
front airbags, side airbags, and anti-lock brakes. But we bet your
favorite features will be the dual-zone automatic climate control
and heated seats. Together they can let you dial in the ideal
atmosphere, even when the top is down.
AMG is awesome at adding performance, and they truly went for a hot
rod kind of mentality with the SLK55. This took one of their best
motors, the 5.5-liter fuel-injected V8, and it was shoehorned into
the engine bay of one of their smallest vehicles around. It knows
how to be a comfortable cruiser like a proper Mercedes should be,
but a quick prod of the accelerator awakens a true V8 rumble. The
full 355 horsepower gets unleashed, and the sport-tuned independent
suspension makes this a road-carving drop-top. Another great AMG
upgrade is 7G-Tronic transmission. It's a normal automatic when you
want leisurely cruising, but the paddle shifters will let you tick
through the gears faster than a manual when it's time for some
backroads fun. This one also has been given some terrific
investments. This includes over $3k for servicing the four-wheel
disc brakes and $2,500 for a major service including new engine
mounts. Plus, the pricey $$$$ and grippy Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
3+ tires only have about 3k miles on them.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet and
maintenance records. What might be the most impressive part of the
car is the overall value. Not only is it a true German speed
machine, but it's also quite clean, complete, and luxurious. And as
affordable it is right now, you can even choose to take the money
left in your budget to have the little things like a professional
buff that really make this look like a million bucks. So when it
looks so good today, and has so much potential for an awesome
future classic, you know this is a deal that will be leaving us
soon. Call today!!!
