Vehicle Description
When Chevrolet introduced the C6 Z06 in 2006, they had three
magical numbers that would ring true with Bow Tie enthusiasts all
over the world: 427. While still technically a small block member
of the LS family of V8s, the LS7 in the Z06 was a fire-breathing
near-race piece, making the Z06 nothing short of a weapon, both on
the track and on the street. This particular 2011 Chevrolet
Corvette Z06 is an extra-special, low-mileage coupe further
punctuated with the Z06 Ultimate Performance Package (aka RPO Code
Z07), making it a true supercar that's easy on the eyes and an
absolute blast to drive.
This nasty Crystal Red Metallic Z06 remains in darn-near showroom
condition throughout, and unlike many Z06s, hasn't been used as a
track toy or daily driver. With only 33,911 original miles, it has
been driven only on sunny days, and its spectacular condition bears
this out. Only 97 Z06s were built in this color this year, making
it a rare sight to behold, but for the nastiest car on the block we
think the color is perfect. Furthermore, this particular model was
ordered with the carbon fiber package, so you get a pronounced chin
spoiler, ground effects, a blacked-out roof panel, a ZR-1 style
full-width rear spoiler, and a sweet-looking rear diffuser that add
to the already aggressive set-up. As a beautifully preserved and
expertly maintained piece, the highest praise we can give this car
is that it is about as close to factory-fresh as you can get with
this kind of mileage, showing only very minor imperfections that
could easily be erased with a good buff-and-wax. It has never been
damaged or hit, and every single panel and every square inch of
paint is as it was applied in Bowling Green. The Z06 enjoys wider
wheel flares that give it a low, menacing stance, as well as a
custom front fascia with a special air intake between the
headlights and the lower grille with the integrated '427' badge.
The effect is subtle, but nobody will mistake a Z06 for just a
garden-variety C6 Corvette, especially with those special badges on
the fenders letting everyone know what time it is.
For all its race-inspired functionality, the Z06 is designed to be
a daily-drivable high-performance vehicle. To that end, comfort and
convenience are held to a very high standard with this car's 3LZ
Premium Equipment Group. HID headlights, fog lamps, deluxe black
leather seating, dual-zone air conditioning, cabin air filtration
and a heads-up display (HUD) with track mode and g-meter are
standard. The Z06 gauge cluster displays the Z06 logo on the 7000
RPM redline tachometer and has readout on the oil pressure gauge to
reflect the higher pressure of the dry-sump oiling system. The
seats feature exquisite leather surfaces with Z06 embroidered logos
in the headrests and high-end white stitching, a beautiful dash
with same stitching, and a sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel
with that familiar dual-flag center badge that comes with this
package. The carbon fiber package is continued inside, with accents
found on the dash, center console, and matching door panels. The
options list is plentiful, pretty much everything GM had available
in 2011 for their production cars is in this Corvette, and a
Kenwood touchscreen multi-media head unit that controls the kickin'
stereo, back-up camera, and navigation system all at arm's reach
for the driver. As with the exterior, the interior of the car is in
superb shape, with only very light signs of use thanks to great
care from the car's single owner since new.
But the real drama is under this 'Vette's skin. That 427 cubic inch
V8 is no joke, and with its aluminum construction, it weighs
several hundred pounds less than the legendary 427s of the '60s,
while extracting more performance than ever before. All told, it
makes a reported 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. (and these numbers
are actually conservative compared to independent magazine tests),
which is likely more than you'll likely ever need but still great
to have at your disposal. The rear-mounted 6-speed manual
transmission gets its own set of gears that are designed for the
output and power curve of the LS7 engine, and includes a pump that
sends transmission fluid forward to be cooled in a dedicated heat
exchanger. The Magnetic Ride Control and top-of-the-line sport
suspension absolutely sticks the Corvette to the road or racetrack,
and when compared to Corvettes from prior generations, you can see
why the C6 was finally respected as a bonafide exotic. Massive
Brembo ceramic brakes are clamped by six piston calipers on drilled
rotors, while out back, four piston units clamp large drilled
rotors, which are actually bigger than the front rotors on the
prior C5 Corvette. Killer-looking Forgeline wheels were added in a
19-inch front and 20-inch rear configuration (stock wheels come
with the sale as well), and they're wrapped with sporty 285/30/19
front and 335/25/20 rear Michelin Pilot Sport performance radials
that fill the fenders perfectly.
With a factory buildsheet, an original window sticker, a full
service history detailed with receipts, and other miscellaneous
stock parts, this is a screaming bargain for this top-of-the-line,
1-owner C6. With the waiting list for the C8 at least another year
out, why not pick up this incredible exotic and start having a
blast now? Call today!
