Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is thrilled to offer this stunning, fully
documented, 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 for consideration. This
Mustang was purchased new from Spitler-Demmer Ford of Wayne, MI.
This is a true "M-Code" Mach 1 powered by its 351 CID 4-barrel V8
engine, 4 speed manual transmission, and rear wheel drive. The car
originally came dressed in Pewter Metallic exterior paint over
black interior. Factory equipment included: Endura bumpers, ram air
hood, competition suspension, high back bucket seats, console,
steel guard rails, Wide Oval tires, Mach 1 sport interior group,
Hurst shifter, Traction-Lok differential, power steering, power
brakes - front discs, sport rear folding seat, rear window defrost,
tinted glass, Magnum 500 chrome wheels, rear louvers etc.
Today, the car has been the recipient of a full restoration /
refurbishment sticking mostly to the map of originality with some
thoughtful upgrades. Most notably, the car is now dressed in
Wimbledon white exterior paint with black Mach one accents, over
black interior with red seat accents. The overall cosmetic
presentation of this Mach 1 is awesome. The body fit, finish and
paint all show excellent, the interior has been fully refurbished
and under the hood is detailed and very tidy. Upgraded 17 inch
magnum style aluminum wheels have been added.
Mechanically, this car drives awesome. The engine has been fully
rebuilt with some thoughtful upgrades to included: Edelbrock
intake, upgraded aluminum radiator, upgraded ignition, etc. Our
short test drive turned into two full days with the car using it as
an everyday driver. The motor is strong and pulls strong, the 4
speed manual transmission and clutch all works smooth and proper,
the suspension and steering is tight and responsive, and the
gearing is friendly in all driving conditions from city streets to
country roads to highway speeds. In short, one of the best driving,
stock Mustangs to have graced the floor of the GR Auto Gallery.
1971 was the first year of the third generation Mustang. Then 16
years in production, the Mustang wore many hats from reliable,
sensible transportation to brutal performance and all areas in
between. The lager, stretched, body style for 1971 gave the car a
much more intimating look to go along with its performance brawn.
It is by far the most aggressive design to this day for the Mustang
and still makes a bold statement where seen or driven. Clean, high
quality examples as the car here remain sought after. This Mach 1
hits the trifecta: Performance, drivability and stage presence.
Documentation includes: Original window sticker, original build
sheet, some original purchase papers, and Marti-Report. Do not fall
asleep at the wheel when considering this car.
