For Sale: 1979 Porsche 930 in Saint Ann, Missouri

Vehicle Description

The 930 Turbo was Porsche’s top line production car throughout the duration of its production run. Instantly recognizable by the distinctive “Whale Tail” which helps vent more air to the engine for additional power and serving dual purpose as it assists in the generation of downforce for aerodynamic stability. The flared wheel wells accommodate the wide rear tires, this broad stance also provides further grip. The dry sump engine is a 200-cid six-cylinder with intercooler and turbocharger, coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox and producing approximately 300 horsepower. At the time of introduction, Car & Driver magazine road tested this model at 0-60 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed in the 165 mph range and impressive skid pad numbers, registering .81g. Braking is provided by four-wheel, ventilated disc brakes.

The magnificent one owner Porsche 930 Turbo featured here is finished in stunning all-black over gorgeous tan leather interior This phenomenal 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo has been retained by its original owner and has been a beloved member of his collection for the last 42 years. The Turbo was purchased new on July 31st, 1979 from the legendary Brumos Porsche Audi of Jacksonville, Florida, which was owned by the motorsport racing legend and Hall of fame driver, Peter Gregg. The car is wonderfully specified in black over tan with a host of options including an electric sunroof, a realignment which lowered the car to the European height, and the incredibly rare Fuhrmann Interior package which featured special leather seats containing four large cushions down the center. Porsche did not advertise an option code for the package. It had to be specially requested by the dealer; as a result, it is believed to be one of the rarest options fitted in a 930. The handful of cars to feature the Fuhrmann seats include Dr. Porsche's personal 1975 930 Turbo, the 1976 London motor Show 930 Turbo, and Peter Gregg's personal 1976 930 Turbo. This was a $1,850 option at the time - equivalent to $12,500 today. I have personally driven this car and its the only Furhmann interior I have come across and is the most comfortable seat in any Porsche.

This 930 Turbo has been impeccably maintained from day one, having always been kept in a climate-controlled garage and received regular maintenance with oil changes every 2,000 miles or less. Accompanying this investment grade 930 are its original owners manual service records tool roll, original bill of sale, Porsche certificate of authenticity and much much more. We are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the rarest and best preserved 930 turbos on the market today. For the most astute collector investor or enthusiast who demands nothing but the best.
