Vehicle Description
The 1948 Ford coupes are always popular, and this custom example
has all the right features you want. With a thoughtfully slick
style, proper V8 power, an upgraded suspension, overdrive
transmission, and a nicely finished A/C interior, this is the
street machine you always knew could be out there.
The big trunks of these cars were a favorite of liquor-running
moonshiners, but in this case, the once inconspicuous styling is
now long gone. It's been replaced with a bold Lavender Pearl Mist.
It's a terrific color with plenty of metallic flair, and since this
car has also been under long-term care, it continues to radiate
quality. Even the bumpers, bezels, and grille were done to match.
And a street machine attitude means thoughtful details. It includes
a sleek style where they deleted the trim, added flush-mounted door
handles, a tighter two-piece windshield, and even utilized
color-matched sport mirrors. It makes for a more modern look on
this very classic Ford. In fact, the largest pieces of bright
you'll find are the polished 15-inch wheel that also loves to show
off a sporty stance.
The custom presentation continues when you open the door. The
shades of mauve used for the tweed and carpeting show more of this
car's thoughtful layout as they harmonize with the exterior. This
is a lower mileage build, and so you would be hard-pressed to find
any signs of wear. Instead, it's just plenty of modern luxury. The
seats are borrowed from a later model Ford, and the front buckets
power adjust to the ideal comfort position. You also have power
windows, power locks, LED dome lights, an AM/FM/cassette stereo
w/CD changer, and cold-blowing air conditioning. The Lecarra sports
steering wheel has a special color-coordinated wrap, and it's
mounted on a tilt column to give you a good view of the full
upgraded gauge package.
As a true street machine, you have upgraded V8 power under the
hood. This 350 cubic-inch motor has an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake. While this motor makes a
nice tune out of the dual exhaust, you can also tell its true
mission is to be a great cruiser. That's why the motor runs well,
and you even have a four-speed automatic transmission with
comfortable overdrive. The suspension features an upgraded Mustang
II-style front end, and there's a sway bar on the rear. Plus, power
steering, power brakes, and front discs make it easy to enjoy out
on the road.
The sale comes complete with plenty of paperwork, including title
documentation, the owner's manual, service manuals, and build
receipts. There's even a history telling the story of the
multi-year build and over a quarter-century under the same owner.
