Vehicle Description
1932 Ford Roadster
Looking for a super sharp street rod that you can parade down Main
Street and park at local cruise nights? How about a cool piece of
Americana that'll turn heads anywhere it goes? If you're in the
market for a great cruiser that's stylish, powerful and has lots of
history, who says you have to buy a stuffy, high maintenance
trailer queen?
For consignment, a consignor stated all original steel car that had
the once over on the steel and now is pristine. Sporting a rare 25
louver hood, original brite-work including bumpers and brackets, a
fabulous running greyhound hood ornament, and a canvas top. This
car harkens back to the early days of hot rodding but with a
definite touch of class in that it doesn't look like a racer but a
real 1932 roadster from the blue oval. Sporting great lines
especially with the top down this wire wheeled classic is up for
grabs in the mall with the halls filled with classics. This car is
holding court with some great company!
Exterior
All that original steel is showing off with well minded gaps and
deep dive for the eyes black paint. Some crazing and cracking as
well as some inclusions are noted throughout the exterior.
Gracefully curved fenders are still on and are attached at the
doors with a rubber plated running board. The front of the car has
a very snazzy vertical ribbed grille and a black radiator surround
along with the greyhound radiator cap ornament (this one is a
reproduction due to the tail touching the rear leg, and lack of
male genitalia underneath!). Oversized round chrome encased
headlights are mounted to a curved frowning bar in front of the
radiator and an iconic V8 badge in its center. The original bumpers
are on front and rear and these are well kept since their
re-plating. Note the hood is a rare 25 louver hood, the firewall
cowling has the chrome framed windshield resting on the back of it,
and small doors with wing hinged style windows above hang off the
windshield surround. On the back a hump styled rear to this
roadster, it sports a snazzy rumble seat, and a chromed trunk rack.
Round taillights in chromed stalks are on both sides. The cream
canvas convertible top is very nice and has brown piping in the
seams, a rear glass window, as well as a metal and wood hinged
frame which moves the top up and down flawlessly. At the beltline
of this car, gold pinstripes run the length and also adding plenty
of accent are the wire wheels all polished and nice with their
center ribbed dish hub coverings.
Interior
A saddle brown faux leather like vinyl material is covering the
beautifully crafted paneled stitched door panels. The same material
is put to use on the bench seat which has wide stitched panels on
the seat and back. The rumble seat has this fabric and pattern as
well. In front is a black dash top and wood applique dash front. In
the very center is a machined circular pattern aluminum oval which
houses a few simple round gauges and pulls. Below the dash and
nearly hidden is a trio of aftermarket gauges in a shiny panel to
help with the monitoring of the newer mill. Tan carpeting covers
the floors, and a long stem wood topped gear shift lever and
chromed handbrake reside within reach of the driver and rise up
from the floor. A modern wood rimmed steering wheel with 3 drilled
spokes is fronting the dash.
Drivetrain
Under this louvered cowled hood resides a 283ci V8 which codes out
as a 1964-1966 engine. A single 4-barrel carburetor is atop, and
its red painted block has chromed Corvette badged ribbed valve
coverings. A chromed round flat air cleaner covering adds more
bling to this bay that has nice black supple wiring and hoses. A
few other chromed bolt-ons are noted as well as an electric fan
radiator. On the back is a 3-speed manual transmission with a 3.78
ratio original rear axle.
Undercarriage
Very clean, very shiny and very black for the underbody and
suspension and drivetrain. Body hangers are looking sturdy and all
steel for the fenders and running boards. Transverse leaf springs
are on all 4 corners as well as drum brakes. Dual exhaust with
Smithy mufflers gives this car a nice purr.
Drive-Ability
All working conditions, smooth acceleration, good bias free
braking, and all functions working as they should. Now that's a
fine test drive!
The drive-in harkens, the drag strip beckons, and the gals are
swooning when you pull up in this awesome rod. You can dress up in
a tux and go out to a nice dinner or jeans and T shirt and a drive
in, this car looks either part, and is all buttoned up, ready to
turn the key and be taken from our hallowed mall halls.
