Fitted with a revised version of Porsche’s 3.0-litre flat-six, the engine produced plenty of power and torque lower in the rev range and had a fun, free-revving tendency, making it quite entertaining to drive. These engines were also much more reliable than the 2.7-litre flat-six they replaced, and the car’s longevity was further reinforced with fully galvanized body shells.
